Food Review: Bibigo

The Place Bibigo is no stranger to most Korean food fanatics. Located in Raffles City, it provides a casual and modern Korean dining experience. I had always wanted to try it out but only had the chance to do so recently, and I have no regrets since.

The Food There is no Korean barbeque or grilled meat in Bibigo. Instead, the food offered here is more of a casual Korean dining experience. The Bibimbap is the star dish here, which is even the favourite dish of the recently famous Korean rapper singer PSY who just had his in the Beverly Hills outlet!

For appetiser, we had the Red Chicken ($14), which is basically crispy chicken thigh tossed in sweet and spicy Kohot sauce. Served in a hot stone pot, the serving is generous enough for 2-3 people. I like the crispy texture and marination of the chicken.

The side dish we tried next was the Japchae ($13) – also known as Silver Noodle. Served in a hot stone pot, it is very appetizing as the noodle was so fine that it taste like glass noodles and yet not too greasy. It goes very well with the thinly sliced pork as well.

For mains, I had the hot stone Bibimbap ($16), which is an omnipresent dish found in Korean cuisine. This is a mix and match dish whereby you can choose the type of rice, meat and sauce. I chose the normal white rice and the Kohot sauce. Once mixed together, the final product is a tasty rice mixed with veggies, beef and the sweet and spicy kohot sauce. Apart from the hot stone pot of rice, there are also salad and kimchi included in the dish.

Rants The service standard here can be improved further, as I happened to encounter a lackluster service attitude from the waitress who took my orders that day. In terms of the menu, perhaps it can be improved to include a wider range of variety.

Will I return again?
For a fuss free and casual meal, I will visit Bibigo again, especially when it is expanding its outlets in Singapore, with the latest outlet opened in Marina Bay Financial Centre, Tower 3.
