We dig local. And loves the traditional pasties to bits. You may call this #SG50.
Since young, my parents would get some of my favourite tau sar piah from Balestier area, and I would gobble them down while enjoying my coffee for breakfast!
When Thye Moh Chan opened in Chinatown Point, I was rather intrigued by the modernisation of this old-name bakery into such a contemporary outlook.
While they may have been around for the last 70 years, there are a couple of new flavours which you should get excited about. During this CNY, the Bakwa Tau Sar Piah has been introduced. Had a piece to taste test it, I must say, it worked out rather well. The bakwa was not overpowering, and matched off tastefully with the salty Tau Sar Piah.
Other new flavours introduced includes the Prune Tau Sar Piah and Longan Tau Sar Piah as well.
Tau Sar Piah aside, Thye Moh Chan has also introduced a couple of new Pineapple Tarts selections this CNY season, with the original, longan and walnut flavours all available! The pineapple tarts are very well balanced between dough and the pineapple fillings, not overly sweet and more importantly, it’s quality ingredients here. At $1.90 each, it may not be the cheapest around, but it may just be much more satisfying!
I know right, with the potential mega calories intake this festive season, we better make darn sure we are having some of the best and not wasting our calories.
Keep calm and feast on!
