Food Review: The Prime Society | Premium Steakhouse in Dempsey Hill
The Place Mention specialised steakhouse in Singapore and it is inevitable that The Prime Society comes to our mind. Located amidst the lush surrounding in Dempsey Hill, we like how the restaurant has retained the old barrack setting, with its high ceiling and spacious dining ambience. We dropped by the restaurant for lunch one lazy weekend afternoon but I think the dining ambience would be much more intimate during the evening.
The Food The steak offered at The Prime Society is predominantly from Australia, from areas such as Rangers Valley and Murray Bridge, famous for their beef production. Prices are on the high end, averaging about $68 per main for its steak. We were feeling slightly indulgent once in a while, even if it meant burning a big hole in our pockets. We would recommend coming here with a group of friends to share the calories and also to try a greater variety of steak.
For some starters to share, go for the Mac and Cheese ($10), which we swear was so good and cheesy.
Likewise, the Sauteed Mushrooms with Bacon ($10) was another equally addictive sides which got us fighting over it literally. The combination of mushrooms and bacon work wonders, especially so with this juicy shrooms!
We just have to treat ourselves to some Onion Rings with Garlic Aioli ($10) – our vote still goes to the earlier two sides!
The Tenderloin 250g with foie gras and truffle sauce ($72) was one of the signature steak recommend by the staff. True enough, it was definitely our favourite this lunch date. The medium-done steak was succulently done, topped with the delectable foie gras, and it went well with the special sauces served along with the steak.
The Kobe Cuisine Rump Cap 200g ($68) came in three chunky slices which did not seem like it was worth anything close to 200g though. Least favourite of the meats we had, too dry and singular in taste.
The rib eye remains one of our favourite beef parts and we decided to give both the Rangers Valley Rib eye 300g ($70) and Murray Bridge Rib eye 300g ($68) a try, done medium and medium-rare. While the quality of the steak was not too bad, the overall taste and texture did not leave us an impression.

Rants The hefty price tag per main course raised our expectations for the steak, which didn’t quite match up accordingly.
Will I return again? The Prime Society has the ambience to impress a date, but we feel that there are better specialty steak houses out there. Maybe not.
