Food Review: J65 Sunday Champagne Brunch at Hotel Jen Tanglin | Cheapest hotel Champagne brunch buffet in Singapore?
The Place We checked out the revamped Hotel Jen Tanglin recently and were largely impressed with the new look and vibe of the hotel. Part of the refurbishment includes the swanky new J65 restaurant located at the lobby level, an open concept dining style where hotel guests have their breakfast. With neatly organised food stations, spacious seating arrangement and a largely woody furnishings, the first impression was right at least. The usual buffets aside, we were quite excited to check out J65 Sunday Champagne Brunch.
J65 is part of our list of 8 Sunday Brunch Buffets in Singapore you should not miss.
5 highlights of the J65 Sunday Champagne Brunch
1) The competitive price (this may well be the cheapest Champagne brunch buffet in town)
At $118 net per person, the J65 Sunday Champagne Brunch is possibly the cheapest Champagne brunch buffet in town, as most Sunday Champagne Brunch buffets at other five star hotels are priced between $180 to $200 net per person. This comes with free flow Perrier-Jouët Champagne, beers, wine, sparkling wine, juices and soft drinks. If you are less of an alcoholic soul, the non-alcohol option is priced at SGD 78 net per person.
2) Wide seafood selection
Cold crabs, lobster, mussels, cold prawns, we are not sure where to start from but for sure the seafood spread should delight avid seafood eaters. If you are a bigger fan of local flavour, watch out for the hot chilli crab with fried bun.
3) Impressive Roast Meat cuts
There is a small section of the buffet dedicated to roast meats, where the Prime Beef Ribs took the centrestage for us. We spotted roast pork belly as well, and we are guessing the selection will probably rotate every week.
4) The list goes on
Of coruse, there is more to the buffet other than seafood and roast meats. You can’t miss the giant display of the sashimi counter, the salad stop, cold cuts like your Iberico ham, and a good mix of local delights such as salted egg yolk prawn, kueh pie tee and Nonya desserts.
5) Sunday live band
If you love live band music, there is a live band singing during the course of the brunch buffet where you can try your luck for song dedications.
Rants For food, the main highlights seem to be the seafood selections and roast meats. So if you are not big eaters of both categories, this buffet may not be so worthwhile. Do not expect top notch food quality like other five star hotels here if you are very picky about food.
Will I Return Again? The food quality is decent, not exceptional for hotel buffet. But with the very reasonable price tag ($118 net per person) for Sunday Champagne Brunch, it will be something we will recommend to alcoholic friends for its value.
