What’s the promotion? Zafferano Italian Restaurant & Lounge at Raffles Place’s Ocean Financial Centre will be hosting their Italian Table Brunch on the 25th Jun Saturday! This seasonal weekend brunch will see you enjoying Italian fare while sipping G.H. Mumm Champagne, or perhaps free flow Peroni beer, house wines, soft drinks, juices or just with coffee and tea – as you wish.

What to expect? At S$98++ per pax, you will get to enjoy a full Italian meal, right from anti-pasti selections, to pasta and mains, before ending off with desserts. Not done in a buffet fashion, expect all the selections on the menu to be served and prepared a la minute at your table upon request, and that means you will get the chance to sample all the dishes! What makes it even better – if there are any favourites you fancy along the way, feel free to inform the waiters and you can expect an additional serving, with the exception of the oysters.

Antipasti selections include seasonal oysters (we have the fresh oysters from Coffin Bay, Australia), deep fried calamari with prawns and anchovies, flamed baby lobsters and our favourite burrata served with cold cuts (Iberico salami, Pio Tosini ham and Pistachio Mortadella). My favourites are definitely the fresh oysters and burrata.

With pastas and pizzas up next, make sure you make more space for the Ravioli (Veal Ravioli with mushroom sauce and truffle emulsion), Gnocchi (done with Seafood, white wine sauce and tomato), and that trio of pizzas – which Zafferano will be prepared specially for the Italian Table Brunch, since it is not on their usual menu. You need to have a slice of that truffle pizza.

For mains, you will get to try both the oven-baked sea bass and roasted chicken leg. Frankly, you will more than likely be stuffed even before you get to the mains. Our tip is to make sure you pace yourself throughout the meal, and really, there’s no need to rush since the brunch hours will be from 12noon to 3pm!

What’s the rant? At S$98++ per person, you ought to be a champagne lover to make your buck worthwhile. Furthermore, not all the selections are hits with us (hopefully you ain’t expecting that too), with the oven-baked sea bass being a tad too dry for our liking. Having said that, Zafferano sticks to serving authentic Italian fare for its brunch, though we can’t help noticing the missing egg omelette that has been so synonymous with a brunch meal, yet so un-Italian fashion to be listed on its menu. In short, be here to experience being Italian for a day, and make sure you drink to your heart’s content!
