Food Review: Gemmills at Gemmill Lane | Hole-in-the-wall cafe & bar hidden in the heart of CBD Singapore [Closed]

The Place Located in a back alley of Gemmill Lane, Gemmills is a hole-in-the-wall café and drinking venue which doesn’t feel like Singapore. The café and bar is accessible via its back alley entrance, and once you enter, it feels like a whole new world. It’s a rustic and vintage ambience at here, with most of the furniture from second-hand sources in Australia. The space is cosy and you probably need to brush shoulders with strangers. There is a barista corner right at the entrance where you get to watch some coffee making action, while the counter area displays the fresh bakes of the day. Taking centrestage of the whole space is the couch seating area in the middle where you can get some nice natural light.

The Food
The latest concept at Gemmills is the new Grab and Go coffee corner, which I think is perfect for the CBD folks to get some grub before heading to their desk. Some of the options include toasted croissants, vegemite & melted cheese toasts and other freshly baked pastries.

Go for the Toasted Croissants with Ham & Cheese (S$4.50) for something solid to start your day. Alternatively, the homemade Granola (S$8) is definitely a healthy boost in the morning. And, have we not mentioned that Gemmills stocks the cold brews from Stamping Ground Coffee too?

Rants It might take a bit of luck to locate this, with their entrance at the back of a shophouse instead of the usual. Oh yes, it is just beside Burger Joint, that will help the fans of this burger joint.

Will I Return Again? There’s always space for freshly baked bread and good coffee. Gemmills exudes a laid-back Aussie vibe which is lacking yet very much appreciated in Singapore. The space is lovely, while the coffee and break combination is hard to beat. I will say how about coming here for an afternoon break as well?
