Food Review: Peach Garden Chinese Dining at Changi Airport | Local Chinese Restaurant Chain’s Tenth Outlet in Singapore

The Place You must have seen, or even dined at one of the many Peach Garden restaurants in Singapore before. Having opened its first restaurant back in 2002, this local Chinese restaurant chain has evolved into 4 concepts and now has 10 restaurants across the island. Their latest outlet being Peach Garden Chinese Dining restaurant located at Changi Airport Terminal 2. The Chinese Dining concept takes away the grandeur present at their Fine Chinese Dining and the classic fare at their mainstay Chinese Restaurants, giving diners a slightly more casual vibe in its ambience.

Having said that, the restaurant still take on the more classic oriental design, with warm lightings and round tables draped with beige-coloured cloth. And yes, with half the kitchen taking on an open concept design, diners can have a peak into the chefs’ action behind the kitchen.

The Food You can expect some classic Cantonese fares here. From Dim Sum selections to Double-boiled soups, and of course you can get your roast meats paired with your wanton noodles at Peach Garden.

For a start, we wanted to start the weekend with some classic brunch, hence the Fried Carrot Cake in XO Sauce (S$9.80) which had definitely done the job well. At the price, the portion was a good size for sharing, with the spiciness level satisfyingly good.

And riding on the Irish duck trend in Singapore, Peach Garden has also launched their own version of Roasted London Duck (S$18.80 Small) here. For folks whom have yet to try these sucuulent breed of premium duck, the meats are much juicer than the local ducks which we are used to having – that’s because it contains a lot more fats within. If prepared well, the duck skin should be crispy, giving you the same texture as those we are familiar with as in Peking Duck. Our verdict for Peach Garden’s rendition? The meats were definitely juicer, but it somewhat lacked the crisp skin I would have much preferred.

If you are catching a flight shortly, an order of the Double-boiled Assorted Seafood Soup in Golden Melon (S$16.80) will be ideal. Soothing clear soup, packed with such hearty vibes, and make sure you bite into the melon, which we understand will help to cool your body down.

We also highly recommend the Baked Single Spare Rib with Spicy Sauce (S$12.80, min 2 order). Very tender meats, well-seasoned and definitely quite a looker. There is a minimum order of 2 for this main, and probably one of the dishes we tried here which have left a good lasting impression.

For other mains, we went for the Crisp-fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk (S$23.80) and Braised Homemade Beancurd with Fresh Crab Meat and Local Spinach (S$18.00). No surprises here, these dishes goes well easily with plain white rice.


For staples, another highly recommended dish here is the Stewed Fish Paste Noodle with half Baby Lobster in XO Sauce (S$29.80). This dish was a good finale to end off our meal, and despite us feeling overwhelmed by our orders thus far, we made very sure we finished this. The texture of the noodles was chewy, while the fresh lobster rounded off this plate of satisfying noodle dish.

For desserts, the Chilled Fresh Mango, Sago with Pomelo in Coconut (S$8.00) easily beats the rest of the desserts we tried here. Make sure you have this with the coconut, which made a big difference to this otherwise ordinary Mango Sago.

 We find the prices here slightly on the high end for a casual dining concept restaurant as compared to some of its competitors.

Will I return again? Dining options at Changi Airport may be aplenty, but this is not so true if you are looking for a Chinese Restaurant, let alone a good one. Peach Garden Chinese Dining at Changi Airport will definitely come up amongst the top here. Having said that, we struggled to classify it as a true casual dining concept with its higher-than-average pricing and serious decor, or to even find a strong differentiation from its higher-tier Chinese Restaurant concept.
