What’s buzzing? If you are a die-hard minions café, you must have already heard wind of the latest character café to open in Singapore. Yes, it would have been despicable of us not to officially share that Minions Cafe Singapore has officially opened at Orchard Central. The pop-up cafe concept under “THE GUEST cafe&diner” will operate from 23 November 2017 (Thurs) to 31st January 2018 (Wed).
The team The limited time pop-up concept is brought in by Parco Singapore, where it’s parent company in Japan operated the hugely successful “The Despicable Me 3 Cafe” in Japan at five “THE GUEST cafe&diner” outlets located in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo and Fukuoka during July and September this year.
What to expect? 14 dishes will be available at the Orchard Central space, all inspired by the Minions. Some of the notable dishes on the food menu include the Minions Great Escape Cream Stew (S$20.90) and Minion Riceball Party (S$23.90); Sweet treats include the likes of Minion Pudding (S$24.90) and S’more and Minion’s Ice Cream (S$18); drink options include Banana Smoothie (S$12.30) and Café Latte (S$8.90/hot) imprinted with minion latte art no less.
Rants We know it is a pop up concept, but we didn’t expect the Orchard Central space to be that makeshift. The minion decorations are everywhere from the pillars to the staff’s attire, though we can’t spot a decent instagram-worthy spot, if you get what we mean. You also have to pay a high price for all the cuteness overload, literally. S$8.90 for a hot café latte in town is definitely not the norm. That said, we spotted a long queue in the first few days of opening and without surprise, no reservations are taken and the restaurant only accepts walk-ins.
