New Restaurants

Original Orchard Emerald Beef Noodle
The few weeks old Original Orchard Emerald Beef Noodle is located at Tai Thong Crescent, as part of the mixed development project of The Venue. We understood from the current team that they are friends with the original owner, and this is the only outlet (for now). The menu is very concise, with the classic option being the Beef Noodles, Beef Brisket Hor Fun, Beef Balls Soup and Oxtail with Rice. Priced slightly higher than the usuals, but with the comfort of air-condition and of course satisfying bowl of beef noodles. [Read more here…]

If you are a die-hard minions café, you must have already heard wind of the latest character café to open in Singapore. Yes, it would have been despicable of us not to officially share that Minions Cafe Singapore has officially opened at Orchard Central. The pop-up cafe concept under “THE GUEST cafe&diner” will operate from 23 November 2017 (Thurs) to 31st January 2018 (Wed). Kabuke
Located at the second level of a shophouse along Telok Ayer, Kabuke seeks to deliver to diners a Japanese dining experience with a keen focus on sake. The restaurant name is therefore a play of the Japanese words Kabuki and Sake. Essentially Japanese food with a modern twist; the offerings are mainly pseudo bar food, Kabuke seeks to complement their food offerings with their sake selections. Expect Takoyaki Fries, Shiso Tempura with Hotate Tartare and even Sake Flight at S$24, where you will get to enjoy 3 glasses of 50ml sake “shots”. [Read more here…]

Monkey Warung
We were surprised that Naughty Nuri, the popular and famous Balinese style pork ribs has closed in Capitol Piazza and Katong. Meet Monkey Warung, the new restaurant which took over the space of Naughty Nuri at Capitol Pizza. Without a close glance, it’s hard to tell that anything has changed as the layout and space is kept pretty much intact from its predecessor. One of the highlights is the Signature Legendary Half Rack, which is good for sharing for two persons despite it being a half rack. Other than pork ribs which Monkey Warung strongly played on, there are many other Indonesian dishes to go along from the grilled meats, seafood and snacks sections on the menu. [Read more here…]

Ramen Nagi
Perhaps one of the largest ramen store in town, the Ramen Nagi chain won the Tokyo Ramen of the Year 2012 and have since expanded from its first store in Fukuoka to numerous outlets across Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Philippines. The store at Suntec City is its first foray into Singapore, and we understood that they are already scouting around for ideal locations in town for future openings. There are four different varieties of ramen here, and while they all use the base tonkotsu pork broth, special sauces are included for three additional variations – Original, Black, Red and Green. These are the 4 Kings here, with a Limited King to be introduced going forward on a seasonal basis. [Read more here…]

B Burger
Located at the first level of Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, Benjamin Barker has transformed the space into the latest burger joint in town, B Burger. American-inspired, with Japanese influence, B Burger felt somewhat like a humble cousin to the popular New York City’s Shake Shack. It is our wish that one day, the likes of Shake Shack, Five Guys and In-and-Out will hit the shores of Singapore. For now, B Burger works perfect for me, and definitely fire up some satisfying burgs. Be here for the B Supreme or the Bomchika Wow Wow, paired it with the nacho soup and down all these with a cup of Matcha Milkshake; all at just about S$20. [Read more here…]

Enjoy a 4-Course Barbecue Menu with Unlimited Meats at Pan Pacific Singapore’s Poolside Patio
Poolside dining seems to be a popular concept by hotels in Singapore, which is a good complement to the existing restaurants within the hotel property. The latest hotel to introduce poolside dining is Pan Pacific Singapore’s Poolside Patio, an alfresco dining concept adjacent to the refurbished swimming pool and Poolside Bar. Available only on Friday and Saturday nights, the concept is a four-course barbecue menu. The main selling point for me is that you can request for unlimited servings of mains so long as you are up for more, which include Grilled Grass Fed Australian Tandoori Lamb Cutlets, Soy and Mustard Harami Steak, Tiger Prawns coated with Garlic Butter and Coriander and Lemon Marinated Red Snapper Fillet. Prices are S$78 per adult (food only), S$98 per adult including unlimited house wines and beers and S$39 per child (six to 11 years old). [Read more here…]

Moosehead’s new menu is worthy of a try
As one of our favourite restaurants along Telok Ayer, it is always exciting for us to see what else this Mediterranean restaurant could offer on the table. The new menu of Moosehead draws inspirations from the various collaborations with international and local chefs and hawkers for chef Seumas. Expect dishes such as Burrata , zucchini, Thai basil pesto and curry leaves; INKA fried eggs, chorizo, aioli, chives; and O’Connor beef sirloin 300 gms, mushroom ketchup, roast spring onions. The flavours are solid, while the combination of ingredients are as usual, interesting. Our tip: don’t leave without trying the desserts, especially the Chocolate mousse with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream. [Read more here…]
