Food Review: Hock Hai (Hong Lim) Curry Chicken Noodle At Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre | Must Try Michelin Bib Gourmand Stall In Bedok!
The Place Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre is a foodie’s paradise. So much good food, so little stomach space. I made a trip down during this circuit breaker period for Hock Hai (Hong Lim) Curry Chicken Noodle, one of the new entrant on the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand 2019 list. Located at a corner of the hawker centre, the popular stall is famous for its namesake curry chicken noodle, even though it also sells satay bee hoon.
The Food I went straight for its Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee (S$4/S$5/S$6) and ordered the S$5 portion. I brought along two containers, so my yellow noodles and curry were kept separate. Naturally, my eyes were drawn to the huge pot of yellow curry where all the ingredients are soaked in. Preparation time was fairly quick, and within minutes my food was all packed and good to go.
The curry is the main star for me without a doubt. It still retained that fresh flavour even after my journey home, and lemak enough yet not too cloying. I actually find myself drinking the curry on its own and despite some feedback from others that it tend to be on the sweeter end, the sweetness is acceptable for me.
The chicken is tender, but what surprised me more are the thin stripes of beancurd (‘tau pok’) which has soaked up the curry essence better than the chicken. The other ingredient which I enjoyed is the soft potato!
Rants Be prepared to queue for at least 15 minutes during peak hours.
Will I Return Again? I love a good curry, and Hock Hai is one stall to try if you are in Bedok. The overall flavour and combination of the ingredients here is very good, though I am also really curious how the curry itself will go with prata.

Had this 2 months ago. Was like an abandoned distant cousin of the Chinatown MOTHERSHIP. It was 10.40am and their tau pok was atiff and dry, it wasn’t soaking up the curry as it should. Also and this is the kicker for me. The side chilli which I usually love was tasteless. If this has the Michelin Bib, the Bedok stall needs to get back on track. Its definitely more convenient for me but I would gladly travel the extra 30 mins to Chinatown for the real deal.
