Food Review: 8 Crabs Seafood Kitchen | Online Crab And Seafood Delivery For Sri Lankan Wild Caught Crabs
The Place Online delivery is prevalent in the past few months and one recent experience I had was with 8 Crabs Seafood Kitchen. With no physical shop presence, 8 Crabs Seafood Kitchen is an online stall which offers crab and seafood delivery. The website (https://8crabs.com/) is easy to navigate, where you get a detailed information on the dishes available, including what they pride on most – their live crabs. Another fact which caught my attention is that 8 Crabs also has a one driver to an order policy across their 12 kitchens island-wide, which brings them to their promise of One Hour Crab Delivery. Crabs are definitely best enjoyed when it is piping hot!
The Food Crabs are the highlights as the name 8 Crabs suggests, and you can choose from different flavours such as chilli crab, black pepper or salted egg crab. One distinction of 8 Crabs is that it is the only company in Singapore using grade AAA premium Sri Lankan sourced wild crabs, where the crabs are meatier, tastier, bigger, and less watery. To ensure the freshness, the crabs are caught, flown, prepared and delivered within 12 hours, with 8 Crabs having a processing premise close to the airport in Sri Lanka.
I ordered the Award-Winning Chilli Crab (S$68/large), where this large size crab is approximately 750g. The portion is good for sharing for two, and my first thought was that the crab is very meaty. Cooked with the Singaporean-style chilli crab sauce, the gravy is sweet and spicy, which complements the sweet and fresh flavours of the crab meat.
The Fried Man Tou (Set of 5, S$6) is perfect to dip in the chilli crab sauce!
Crabs aside, I also tried other regular Zichar dishes such as the Prawn Paste Chicken (S$12/small), Premium Pork Ribs King (S$15/small) and the Minced Pork Beancurd with Cai Po (S$15/Regular).
My favourite of the lot is the Minced Pork Beancurd with Cai Po, where the cai po (i.e. preserved radish) is delicious and adds much flavour to the tofu.
You also can’t go wrong with the crispy prawn paste chicken or the tender pork ribs.
Rants I prefer my fried man tou to be more crispy and the ones I had here could probably do with a longer frying time.
Will I Return Again? For the fresh crabs, 8 Crabs Seafood Restaurant is worth trying. It is also great that there is a good mix of other dishes on their online stall to go along with my crab feast.
