Food Review: Lin’s Braised At Dunman Food Centre | Affordable Hawker Style Taiwanese ‘Lu Rou Fan’ In Singapore

The Place Located in Dunman Food Centre, Lin’s Braised is a relatively new hawker stall here, located on level 2 close to Rong Ji Chicken Rice & Porridge. The humble stall is run by a Singaporean lady who has resided in Taichung for a couple of years previously, and it serves causal Taiwanese dishes and fish soup. Dunman Food Centre is not a big hawker centre by Singapore’s standards, but I like this food centre as it is not too crowded with good ventilation, and there are stalls worth checking out here.

The Food Most people will associate street style Taiwanese food with ‘Lu Rou Fan’, aka Braised Pork Rice and it is no surprise that this classic Taiwanese dish is served at Lin’s Braised. I ordered the Signature “Hakka’ Braised Pork Rice Bowl ($5.80), a generous portion which consist of ingredients such as braised pork, egg, braised beancurd, and salted vegetables. I like the braised sauce along with the rice, it is flavourful where the pork is tender and it reminds of what I had in Taiwan. Nothing very fancy, just a simple looking bowl of a common street dish in Taiwan which is onerous to prepare.

Another dish I had was the Braised Pig Trotter Rice Bowl (S$8.80). For the price, the portion is good to share for 2 if you are not too hungry. Generous portion of the pig trotter which is well-braised and flavourful. Similar to the Signature “Hakka’ Braised Pork Rice Bowl, it also comes with sides like braised egg and tofu.

Rants As the stall is just managed by one person, it takes awhile for the orders to be prepared. If you drive, the parking lots at the food centre is extremely limited.

Will I Return Again? I love Taiwanese food and Lin’s Braised is a convenient and value for money option for those in the east. Head here if you love your ‘Lu Rou Fan’.
