Food Review: Rong Ji Chicken Rice & Porridge At Dunman Food Centre | Delicious Chicken Porridge & Steamed Chicken

The Place Located in Dunman Food Centre, I was eager to try Rong Ji Chicken Rice & Porridge after spotting a long queue the last town I was here for Lin’s Braised. Managed by an elderly couple, the stall has been around for decades and I wonder why it took me this long to check it out.

The Food Chicken Rice from S$3, while there is also Chicken Porridge (S$3) or Pork Porridge (S$3). Note that there is only white chicken, and I had the chicken meat for 2 persons and a bowl of the chicken porridge, all for S$11.80!

I started with the porridge, which looks ordinary but taste extraordinary.

Topped with an egg, the texture of the porridge is not too watery and is really flavourful. To some extent, it reminds me a little of Sin Heng Kee Porridge, except that the latter’s porridge texture is much thicker. It comes with shreds of chicken meat, which makes the porridge even tastier.

The chicken itself is really soft, tender and delicious on its own even without any sauces.

For the chicken rice, it is not greasy at all but I find it on the bland side. My recommendation is to order the chicken meat, and have it with porridge instead of rice!

Rants Expect a long queue even at off-peak hours.

Will I Return Again? Very reasonable hawker prices, delicious white chicken and a comforting bowl of porridge, I will be back.
