Food Review: The Feather Blade In Tanjong Pagar | Affordable Flat Iron Steak With Uni Butter Sauce

The Place Located in Tanjong Pagar, The Feather Blade is probably one of the most value for money restaurants to get your steaks in Singapore. It was previously located in Club Street, before it relocated to a new shophouse space in Tanjong Pagar. The space of The Feather Blade is dark and sleek, which creates a chill-lax drinking ambience as well as the restaurant also have a proper cocktail program on top of its food offerings.

The Food With a concise menu, the restaurant specialises in flat iron steaks. I had the Steak (S$21), 200g of feather blade steak with smoked salt. For the price, it is very value for money and my medium-rare steak is flavourful though just lightly seasoned. Add S$11 for Foie Gras if you fancy!

You also get to choose from their house-made sauces like Sichuan Peppercorn (S$2), Bearnaise (S$2), Wasabi Cream (S$2), and Uni Butter (S$6). My top pick is the Uni Butter, which is surprisingly good with the steaks. The Sichuan Peppercorn and Wasabi Cream sauces are a little too adventurous for me.

For sides, there are options like Potatoes (S$9), Spinach (S$7), Burratina (S$16) and Mushrooms (S$9) to pair with your mains. I really like the potatoes, prepared with wagyu beef fat, dill cream and topped with ikura. Otherwise, I also recommend the grilled portobello mushrooms with herb butter.

Other than steaks, there are also Burger (S$21) with beef fat fried patty and Gyudon (S$28) where you can choose to top with foie gras or scallops. The burger’s patty is quite juicy, and this is probably a good alternative to the steak.

The gyudon is a generous portion with slices of beef, egg and topped with scallop for me. I like the Japanese rice used here. In terms of value, it is hard to beat the 200g of steak at S$21.

Rants The food menu is very concise, and as its name suggests, they only serve one type of steak here. It is by no means a full-fledged steakhouse if that is what you are expecting.

Will I Return Again? The Feather Blade definitely attracts a younger dining crowd with its competitive pricing and location in the buzzing Tanjong Pagar Road which is surrounded by numerous Korean restaurants. You can’t go wrong with their steak here, and if you fancy, some cocktails to go along.

This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
