Hotel Review: 1 King Bed Suite At Voco Orchard Singapore | IHG Property In The Heart Of Orchard Road

The Hotel Located on Orchard Road in Singapore, I checked in to Voco Orchard Singapore recently, the latest IHG property to open. The building of Voco Orchard Singapore is where Hilton Singapore used to be, so you will not notice much difference for the building structure apart from the new Voco logo.

The hotel lobby retains pretty much the same look as before, except that the backdrop of the reception is splashed with a new dark blue hue with the Voco logo.

For tourists, the centralised location of Voco Orchard Singapore makes it an ideal spot to position yourself if your intention is to shop in Orchard Road. Other merits of the hotel’s location include the close proximity to Orchard MRT station, and a short stroll from the Unesco heritage status of Botanic Gardens.

The Room I checked into the 1 King Bed Suite located on level 20, right at a corner of the floor.

At 69 sqm, I immediately felt how spacious the suite is when I entered. The layout is well-thought too, with the living room to the left and the bed room to the right, and a powder room right at the entrance.

The living room area is very cosy, complete with comfortable sofas to lounge around, and a dining table for four persons.

This is also where you will find the Nespresso coffee machine, TWG tea bags, and a mini fridge. It is quite a good size space to have some friends and family over.

The main bedroom section is equally spacious, complete with a work desk, huge wardrobe space, Herman Miller chair and 55-inch Smart TV. This suite also provides two different views of Orchard Road surroundings from the window of the bedroom section and the living room section.

For the bathroom, it is decked in grey marble tiles and black marble flooring.

You get a spacious walk-in standing shower zone, bath tub, double sinks, Apotheke amenities, and a separate toilet door within the bathroom which is great.

The Facilities My suite stay comes with Club Lounge access, located on level 22 of the property. I like the interior of the club lounge, which has not changed since its Hilton days as it was only renovated quite recently.

You get a good dose of natural light in the day, and the lounge is spacious enough where I have not encounter overcrowding issues even in the past.

In the evening, it serves cocktails, wines and spirits along with a rotating menu of evening canapés. Unfortunately, the club lounge does not serve breakfast for club guests at the moment.

On level 24, there is the rooftop pool which also gives a good view of Orchard Road. There are not many sun deck chairs, and it can be fairly packed when the weather is good. That said, the pool is not huge.

The 24/7 fitness centre is located on level 23, and is reasonably well-equipped though it does show signs of again. The bathroom within the fitness centre also has a sauna and steam room.

The Restaurants Breakfast is held at the lobby level at Opus Bar & Grill where you get a wide selection of breakfast buffet spread. Post breakfast, this is also a steakhouse which serves grilled sustainable seafood and premium handpicked steaks cooked over an open flame grill using charcoals and sustainable Jarrah wood.

Right beside side the pool is il Cielo, an Italian restaurant helmed by Chef Marco Fregnan which features an outdoor dining space and an indoor dining room.

For takeaways, there is D9 Cakery at the lobby for cakes and breads. For something fancy to dine, there is also Iggy’s, a One-Michelin Star restaurant.

Rants Signs of aging at some of the common facilities within the property.

Overall Experience Voco Orchard Singapore offers IHG loyalty members another option to clock their hotel stays. The one-bedroom suite is quite well-designed, and is ideal for small families and couples who even wish to have some friends over in the day. The centralised location in Orchard Road also makes it a draw if you are a tourist.
