The Place Located at Lorong Sarina along Changi Road, Chuen Chuen Chicken Rice is a causal chicken rice stall in a coffeeshop right opposite Katong Laksa (George’s). It is very close to Kembangan MRT Station and Telok Kurau enclave. The stall brand says since 1979 and I am guessing that it originated from Bugis Street back in the old days. Business was brisk but not crazily packed during my lunch visit, and the chicken rice is the only stall in this coffeeshop. There are parking lots along Changi Road if you drive. 

The Food The stall does mainly chicken rice and it also has chicken porridge, where prices start from S$5 for the chicken rice. There are also a couple of side dishes like Crystal Chicken Feet (from S$4), Oyster Sauce Vegetable (from S$4) and Dumpling Soup (from S$4). Half chicken is at S$15 while whole chicken at S$30. 

I had two persons worth of chicken meat as well as the dumpling soup to go along. The steamed chicken is tender and flavourful in the light soy sauce, definitely above average for me.  I usually go for the chicken thigh for the more tender meats, and Chuen Chuen did not disappoint.

Remember to dip the chicken with some chilli sauce as well!

The rice itself is best enjoyed with the dark soy sauce and chilli sauce, where the chilli is not too spicy here at Chuen Chuen. While the rice is not bland, I prefer it to be even more fragrant and flavourful. 

The dumpling soup is a decent size dish, though I enjoyed the clear soup more than the dumpling itself. 

Rants The rice itself can be even more aromatic for me. 

Will I Return Again? An above chicken rice stall in the east. Chuen Chuen Chicken Rice is worth a try if you are in the vicinity and in the mood for some Hainanese chicken rice fix.
