Food Review: Village Park Nasi Lemak In Uptown Damansara, Petaling Jaya | One Of The Best Nasi Lemak Near Kuala Lumpur

The Place I have one clear agenda on my recent Kuala Lumpur trip, a meal at Village Park Nasi Lemak in Uptown Damansara in Petaling Jaya. This is one of the most popular and famous Nasi Lemak stall near KL, and the stall space has expanded in the past few years due to its popularity.

I arrived on a weekday morning and it was busy as expected. The dining space comprises of long communal tables which remind me of old school canteen style, and the best part is that it is air-conditioned.

The Food This is a halal stall, and I was fortunate to meet its owner Datuk Shamil during my visit, who shared that Village Park Nasi Lemak has been around for more than twenty years.

The sole and most famous dish to have here is the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng (RM12). I was really excited when it was served, and I dived straight into the fried chicken. I love the heaps of fried crumps over the huge chicken where my favourite is the chicken thigh. Fried to a perfect texture, the chicken skin is crispy and the meat is very juicy and tender.

The rice itself is a highlight as well. It is not overly lemak, but definitely tasty enough that you can just have it with sambal and life is great. The sambal here is freshly prepared for a few hours everyday, and leans towards the sweeter profile rather than spicy.

It was so good, I had an extra portion of the fried chicken and extra helping of rice. My dining group and I also had a couple of side dishes to go along like the delicious Rendang Ayam, Sotong and Petai.

And Nasi Lemak is not all on the menu. I also tried the Singapore Mee Rebus (RM9), a delicious plate which uses beef stock.

There is also Roti Bakar with Butter and Kaya (RM3.30) and Nasi Dagang Set (RM8.90).

Rants The restaurant can get really crowded on weekends. There is also not much to do in the vicinity should you need to wait for a table.

Will I Return Again? This is one of the best Nasi Lemak I have had so far. Every element of the dish is excellent from the rice to the chicken. The closest substitution in Singapore is Dickson Nasi Lemak, which doesn’t even come close to Village Park.
