Food Scoops: New and Buzzing Singapore Restaurants In November 2023

New Restaurants

Lo Quay
Located at Amoy Street, the newly opened Lộ Quậy (pronounced “Lo Kway”) is an interesting concept I checked out recently. Lộ Quậy, which loosely means “discover” in Vietnamese, is a New Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant by Chef Quỳnh Brown in partnership with The Dandy Collection (also behind Firangi Superstar, Neon Pigeon, Fat Prince). Chef Quỳnh has nearly two decades of experience in contemporary Japanese and European cooking, including 14 years with Nobu and Zuma. [Read more here…]

Restaurant Khiri
One of my favourite new restaurants which opened in Singapore this year, I revisited Restaurant Khiri, formerly known as Restaurant Chedi located along Hamilton Road for its new second edition menu. The space of Khiri vs Restaurant Chedi has not changed much, with some Chedi classics still on the menu too together with a brand-new seasonal menu to launch Khiri.  [Read more here…]

Shoukouwa Shinjidai
Taking over the space of what used to be Taiga Dining in currently renovating Conrad Singapore Orchard, the new Shoukouwa Shinjidai which I checked out recently is definitely one new Japanese omakase restaurant in Singapore to watch out for. The 13-seater restaurant is a creative collaboration between Chef Emmanuel Stroobant of Two Michelin-starred Saint Pierre and Head Chef Kazumine Nishida of Two Michelin-starred Shoukouwa Sushi Restaurant. Need we say more? [Read more here…]

Curry Club Signatures
Opened just this month along Mohamed Sultan Road, The Curry Club Signature is a new contemporary casual-fine dining Indian restaurant by a local South Indian family. The restaurant is spacious and occupies a shophouse unit on the same row as Esora and Meta.  The interior of The Curry Club Signature takes on a dark tone with black titled flooring contrasted with orange seats, along with a bar counter in the centre of the restaurant.  The ala carte menu combines traditional Indian flavours with modern touches.  [Read more here…]

Breath Cafe
There is no lack of coffee options at CBD, though cafes for you to take a breather from work may not be plenty. Here comes Breath Cafe at Pickering Street, serving up a rather over-the-top flower decor (literally) to give respite to office workers in the area. Order from some of their signatures, including their Cold Truffle Capellini and Pastrami Sammy.

Address: 3 Pickering Street, #01-39, Singapore 048660

Odd Hours
For the budget conscious diners who are looking for a good night out in the River Valley precinct, Odd Hours is an option to consider. Contrary to its name, it does not operate at odd hours though. Located along Mohamed Sultan Road which has seen a few new openings along the same stretch in recent months (including Curry Club Signatures on this list too), you can head here for Asian Fusion food that does not break the bank.

You will always find a long queue of diners waiting for their tables here at Tanyu, and that’s why they are opening their seventh outlet in Singapore, located at VivoCity. East Coast Welcomes Merci Mercel
Katong just got more crowded with another big brand joining the hood. This round, French diner Merci Mercel opens its fourth outlet along East Coast Road. The interiors are definitely worthy of a visit at this all-day diner. You can read here for various other cafe concepts in the neighbourhood.
