Food Scoops: Hazuki At Ngee Ann City Unveils A New À La Carte Menu | Japanese Dining Restaurant In Orchard Road

What’s Buzzing? Nestled within Takashimaya Shopping Centre in Ngee Ann City, Hazuki (晴月) is a Japanese omakase restaurant which recently launched a new à la carte menu to complement its omakase tasting menu. The ala carte menu is served at the elegant Hazuki lounge which is known for their luxurious Gucci homeware and exquisite Kagami crystalware. Hazuki is helmed by classically trained Kyoto chef Kenta Yamauchi, formerly of Michelin-starred Gion Fukushi in Kyoto.

What To Expect? The new à la carte menu is a varied mix of Japanese dishes spanning from sushi and tempuras to shabu-shabu and an array of claypot choices. It is a relatively more casual menu to complement their existing tasting menu.

For a start, I had the luxurious Kegani with Dashi Jelly & Oscietra Caviar (S$88), which features Half a Horsehair Crab. Delicious.

The 5 Types Of Assorted Sashimi (S$88) showcases fresh seasonal sashimi and while it comes at a premium, you can expect thick slices of freshly sliced fish. I had a good mix of Tai, Kinmedia, Aka-Gai, Shima Ebi & the umami-rich Chutoro.

There are also a couple of different types of handrolls to choose from, each stuffed with premium ingredients where I had the Uni Handroll (S$58).

If you love tempura, go for the 6-pieces Assorted Tempura (S$68) which is a good mix of Satsumaimo (Sweet Potato), Kuruma Ebi (Tiger Prawn), Hotate (Scallop), Amadai (Tilefish) and Oba Uni (Sea Urchin on Oba Leaf).

Rice options include Donabe fit for sharing for two diners, or you can go invidivual with the likes of Bara Chirashi Donburi (S$48), or the simpler Nodoguro Donburi (S$48).

In terms of beverages, there is the Trio of Sake Samples, available at S$48.
