Hotel Review: The Singapore Edition At Cuscaden Road | Gorgeous & Lush Marriott Bonvoy Property Near Orchard Road

The Hotel One of the latest new exciting hotel openings in Singapore, I stayed at The Singapore Edition recently, the brand’s first hotel in the region. For the uninitiated, Edition is a luxury lifestyle hotel brand under Marriott Bonvoy. The location of The Singapore Edition is along Cuscaden Road, a relatively quiet stretch of road which is within close proximity to the Orchard Road shopping belt.

My first impression as I stepped into the lobby was how gorgeous and minimalist the design is. You will be greeted by an open, high ceiling and elegant lobby, along with a centrepiece spiral stairway which leads to the basement of the property where the garden, function rooms and bar are located.

There is much thought of a lush and green garden theme interior with the design of the property, which is quite seamless in my opinion. I like the “green corridor” where guests can opt to order a drink and chill away.

My check-in process was fuss-free, where I was greeted with a welcome drink and cold towel to refreshen up.

The Room There are 204 rooms in this property, and I checked into the Garden King Room. It is a spacious 38-47 sqm room, with a very minimalist design with wooden touches. I am a fan of anything wood, so the interior of the room speaks to me.

The bedroom section is huge, complete with a living area where you get a lounge chair by the window, and a dining table.

The mattress of the king size bed is relatively hard for my liking, where the room also comes with features like a Nespresso machine, Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Bluetooth Speaker, and Smart HDTV with streaming capabilities.

The other highlight of the room is definitely the bathroom. You get the separate bathtub and rain shower which take up a huge zone of the bathroom, complete with Le Labo bathroom amenities with exclusive signature Edition scent.

Double vanity sinks no less.

The Restaurants The main dining concept is Fysh, a concept by acclaimed Australian restaurateur and chef Josh Niland. This is Chef Josh Niland first restaurant outside of Australia, and it features sustainable seafood-focused steakhouse menu alongside responsibly sourced vegetables and meats.

This is also where breakfast is held, and you get a table spread of pastries, fruits, cold cuts and more, in addition to a small selection of ala carte menu.

The unlimited servings of ala carte options include the likes of Fried Eggs with Trout Roe & Steamed Koshihikari Rice; Fysh Royale which features Poached Egg, Hash Brown, Smoked Bacon & Seaweed Hollandaise; Congee with various condiments and even Chongqing Noodles.

I was expecting a wider breakfast selection, and hopefully the team will add on more options in time to come.

Other dining concepts include Punch Room where the intimate bar is Swathed in a shade of Yves Klein blue. It serves a cocktail menu inspired by Southeast Asian spices.

The Lobby Bar is the living room space for drinks and light bites, while The Roof located at the same level as the pool exudes tropical vibes with its semi-al fresco setting, and serves Southeast Asian bites along with drinks.

The Facilities The size of the Gym is great if you are into serious workouts. Located on the second floor, the 24-hour gym is equipped with free weights, yoga mats, exercise balls, and a variety of equipment by TechnoGym.

The Spa is also located on the second floor, and even if you are not planning to book any treatments, you can still use the sauna, steam room and plunge pool, complimentary for hotel guests.

The Pool is located at the roof level, and it is a standard lap pool design with a small glass floor in the middle of the pool. Plenty of beds to lounge around, though it does exude a condominium swimming pool vibe more so than a hotel pool vibe.

Rants The breakfast spread could be more varied for the ala carte menu.

Overall Experience The Singapore Edition is no doubt a great addition to the hotel scene in Singapore. The minimalist room design and overall aesthetics of the property resonate well with me, and if you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, this is definitely a property to check out in Singapore.
