Food Review: Summer Hill At Claymore Connect | French Bistro Dining With Weekend Unlimited Brunch Trolley From S$69++

The Place Located at Claymore Connect, it was my first time to Summer Hill, a French Bistro restaurant which has been here for close to two years. Summer Hill was previously at Sunset Way in Clementi for five ways before it moved to the current Orchard location, where it takes up a gorgeous space in the mall.

I love the natural light in the day and the eclectic interior, especially the tiled table and the mix of tablewares.

The Food The ala carte menu offers a good variety of homely French dishes like Mussels Normandy and Classic Roast Chicken, though I had their newly launched Weekend Unlimited Brunch Trolley which is a French take on “Dim Sum” trolley. Priced at S$69++ per person, it also includes free flow iced tea, or you can opt for a free flow Prosecco, Red & White Wine for an additional S$55++ per person.

For kids, there is also a Kid’s Trolley menu at S$25++ per kid (aged between 5-12 years old) where you can expect a rotating menu of dishes like Housemade Popcorn Chicken, Bacon & Mushroom, Alfredo Pasta, Forever Fries and DIY Snow Cone Bar. Of course, adults are free to order from the kid’s menu too if you fancy!

For a start, the “buffet” started with light starters like the Marinated Tomato & Ricotta Salad, Ham & Brie Sandwiches, Sausage Rolls and Mussels.

For mains, my favourite pick is the Steak & Eggs, where you can expect the trolley to make its rounds each time a dish is dished out. The steak onglet here is smeared with herb butter with creamy scrambled eggs beneath, and I actually had multiple servings of it.

I also enjoyed dishes like the Seabream with Sauce Vierge, and of course the signature Classic Roast Chicken dish at Summer Hill served along with crunchy Brussel Sprouts Amandine

The other meat which took me by surprise was the Dijon-Style Roast Pork Collar which was surprisingly flavourful and moist.

Of course, save space for the Dessert Trolley too where you can expect dishes like Pear Frangipane Tart, Pistachio Crème Brûlée, Warm Banana Bread with Salted Rum Caramel, Chocolate Stout cake with Irish Liqueur Cream and also a Snow Cone Bar.

My favourite of the lot is the Banana Bread which has a moist texture and a slightly crisp crust at the edge of the cake, delicious.

Rants It will probably be good if one pasta dish is added to the brunch trolley, and I also thought that the pacing of the dishes could be better.

Will I Return Again? The price point for the Weekend Unlimited Brunch Trolley is relatively competitive and it is great if you have been wanting to try the food at Summer Hill since you get to try a variety of dishes at one go in smaller portions. I like that there are some good protein dishes like the steak and roast chicken, and if you fancy quality over quantity for a weekend brunch buffet, this is one to consider.

This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
