Food Review: Casa Mori At Dempsey | Modern Asian Restaurant By Chef Willin Low & Chef José Alonso
The Place Located in Dempsey, I checked out the newly opened Casa Mori, a modern Asian fusion concept which is a collaboration between local Chef Willin Low and Spanish Chef José Alonso who is also behind Spanish restaurant Kulto. The name Casa means home in Spanish while Mori means forest in Japanese, where the interior of the restaurant takes on a soothing and neutral tone ambience.

I love the high ceiling which lends a sense of space, as well as the tall pillars in each corner which take reference to the bark of the trees.

The Food The menu is designed to be ideal for sharing, mainly organised by small plates, large plates, sides, pastas, and desserts.
For a start, I had the Kalipoquetas (4PC) (S$16) which is a different spin on curry croquettes with curry aioli and chicken.

The Garlic Huajiao Prawns (S$32) is mildly spicy where the Szechuan-style prawns are cooked with confit garlic.

For carbs, the Squid Ink Fried Rice (S$38) is one of the signature dishes here where the al dente rice is topped with baby squid tempura and onsen egg. It is a generous portion which is good to share for 3-4 pax.

For protein options, expect the likes of Black Cod (S$38) comes with Chinese olive mustard leaf and Japanese takana; while the tender and juicy Spring Chicken (S$36) is a local Singaporean spin on chicken rice as it is served with ginger & scallion relish.

For desserts, the crisp Spanish Churros (S$16) is given a local twist as comes with chocolate sauce and homemade kaya.

Alternatively, there is also Black Sesame Cheesecake (S$16) which is balanced with mango sorbet if an alternative.

Rants The menu, being fusion, is a mix of everything. You will not get the full-on flavours of any particular type of cuisine if that is what you prefer.
Will I Return Again? If you fancy a no boundaries concept with Asian flavours, Casa Mori is one to check out in Dempsey. The dining ambience is comfortable and homely, where dishes are quite varied to suit different palates as well.
