Food Review: OJEJE At Raffles City | Seoul’s Tonkatsu & Udon Restaurant First International Foray In Singapore

The Place Located at Raffles City is a new tonkatsu and udon restaurant from Seoul. OJEJE (오제제) just opened its first international foray in Singapore at the basement of Raffles City, where the brand is founded in 2020 by Chef-Owner Kim Ji-hoon.

Hailing from Jeju Island, OJEJE operates six directly managed restaurants in Seoul, with Singapore marking the beginning of its first global journey.

The Food The udon noodles are made fresh in-house, and each cut of the pork is assessed individually during the wet-aging process before being fried.

OJEJE’s signatures include its Pork Loin Katsu, Premium Matcha Zaru Udon, alongside the brand’s distinctive Kadaif Prawn and other favourites.

I had their Pork Loin Katsu + Kadaif Prawn Set (S$38) where the air-flown pork loin is wet-aged for tenderness and trimmed to balance lean meat with natural fat. There are a few ways to enjoy the tonkatsu – as is, with a dipping sauce or with a pinch of Himalayan salt.

It is also served with Black Tiger Prawns wrapped in fine kadaif pastry paired with white truffle sauce.

The other option I had was the Pork Tenderloin Katsu + Kadaif Prawn Set (S$38) which is characterised by the slight pink hue of the tender tenderloin meat. If you prefer a fattier and more tender bite, go for the tenderloin instead of the loin.

For carbs, I really enjoyed the Premium Matcha Zaru Udon (S$17) where the noodles spot a fresh and clean taste. The house-made chilled matcha udon is served with a tsuyu dipping sauce.

There is also the Singapore Exclusive Carbonara Udon (S$22) if you fancy something heavier as opposed to the matcha udon. The house-made udon here is done in an Italian-style carbonara style where you get a creamy flavour.

Rants The space is quite an open concept layout which limits dining privacy.

Will I Return Again? A good addition to Cityhall for a casual Korean tonkatsu meal where the pork is relatively tender and flavourful. That said, the noodles are what I will return for as I enjoyed the noodles more than the pork.
