Food Review: Pan Pacific Singapore’s new restaurant concept – Poolside Patio | 4-Course Barbecue Menu with Unlimited Meats
The Place Poolside dining seems to be a popular concept by hotels in Singapore, which is a good complement to the existing restaurants within the hotel property. The latest hotel to introduce poolside dining is Pan Pacific Singapore’s Poolside Patio, an alfresco dining concept adjacent to the refurbished swimming pool and Poolside Bar. Available only on Friday and Saturday nights, the concept is a four-course barbecue menu.
The Food For the four-course barbecue menu, the main selling point for me is that you can request for unlimited servings of mains so long as you are up for more. Prices are S$78 per adult (food only), S$98 per adult including unlimited house wines and beers and S$39 per child (six to 11 years old).
We started with the grilled flat bread served with a special dip made of butternut squash, sage, hazelnut and shredded parmesan cheese. Next up is a wide spread of Appetisers such as Tomato Gazpacho with Iberico Ham and Tomato Bread, Mushroom Cappuccino, Green Asparagus with Burrata and Black Rice Chips and Alaskan King Crab in Garlic Butter. These are merely teasers to prepare us for the meats, which are the main highlights of the menu.
On to the mains, the meats are served on a hot plate, which include Grilled Grass Fed Australian Tandoori Lamb Cutlets, Soy and Mustard Harami Steak, Tiger Prawns coated with Garlic Butter and Coriander and Lemon Marinated Red Snapper Fillet. My favourite is the Tiger Prawns which was delicious. The Tandoori lamb caught me by surprise too as it wasn’t gamy at all.
The other meat which stood out for me is the Ayam Bakar, an Indonesian Char-Grilled Chicken Thigh infused with sambal sauce. The chicken meat was very tender, though it could definitely do more with a more intense spicy flavour. In addition, we also get to choose sauces such as horseradish cream, chimichurri and Sichuan pepper to go along with the meats.
We ended off the night with the Tropical Tiramisu for dessert.
There is also the option to go for the unlimited house red and white wines or Tiger draft beer at S$98++ per adult or at S$78++ per adult for food only.
Rants If air-conditioned dining is a prerequisite, this is not for you.
Will I Return Again? At S$78++, you need love alfresco dining, and love the idea of unlimited free flow grills. On a good weather, this will be a worthy experience to head for. Otherwise, there’s always the Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore.
This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
