Food Review: Comida 可蜜達炭烤吐司 in Taipei, Taiwan | The Must Try Instagram-worthy Cheese Toast
The Place Cheese toast in Taipei? It sounds unbelievable initially for us until we checked out Comida (可蜜達 炭烤吐司) located in Zhongshan district. It is literally a hole-in-the-wall shop in an old building right beside another café, with very limited tables along the corridor. This is a great breakfast place to start your day in Taipei, as there are various sandwich options to choose from, with the most famous being the quadruple cheese toast. We also previously shared some of our favourite cafes and teahouses in Taipei.
The Food If you can’t read Mandarin, fret not as the menu comes with both English and Japanese translations at the same time. There are many combinations of pork egg toast to choose from, essentially fried pork chop with your preferred doneness of the egg and types of cheese.
We went straight for the Pork Egg Toast with Quadruple Cheese (NT$90) and the Pork Egg Toast with Double Cheese (NT$75). For both options, you can choose your egg to be medium cooked or done scrambled form.
If you can only choose one, the Pork Egg Toast with Quadruple Cheese is the one to go for. The fillings, both the egg and pork chop are very generous, with luscious melting quadruple cheese. It was very satisfying and I would have another one if not for my very packed food itinerary for the day. One advice is to have it as soon as possible when served before the cheese solidify. To add on, the service staff is very friendly.
Rants It’s a pretty small, no frills space with no air conditioning. Not exactly a place to chill for long but rather eat and go.
Will I Return Again? If you love cheese toast with eggs, Comida is a must visit as part of the grand scheme of things on your Taipei food trail.
