Food Review: Apartment Coffee at Lavender | Enjoy Single Origin Beans at this Minimalist White Interior Space

The Place The cafe scene at Lavender has a new addition, aptly named Apartment. Located at the corner of Lavender Street and Tyrwhitt Road, the spacious set up of Apartment coffee is very welcoming for me. Decked with light wooden tones for its furniture and predominantly white interior, Apartment feels like a luxury of space which no business owner in Singapore will typically go for.

For the seating configuration, it is quite casual. There is a wooden bench by the window, a sofa fit for two persons, and the bar seats which is also quite limited.

The Food Apartment is not where you get your brunch food, as the menu is merely coffee and limited non-coffee beverages like green tea. Some pastries and cakes are also served, though the selections are limited. Do note, Apartment does not do takeaway coffee too.

As for the beans, expect the likes of single origin like Colombia or Kenya, but the source of supply is definitely seasonality dependent.

I tried the Costa Rica El Llano (S$6.50) black filtered coffee, which has the flavour profile of baked nuts and apple. The black coffee taste profile here is quite clean and easy to drink, if that is something you are looking for.

The coffee with milk option I had is the Colombia Bella Vista (S$5) beans, which has some apple and honey dark chocolate notes. The first thing I noticed is how small the cup is, though it is a beautiful cup. Well, I find it a little too creamy and milky for me to fully enjoy the coffee flavour.

Rants The limited seating capacity makes it difficult to stay here for a long while. It’s a space where I can gladly read a book and have coffee for a long while, though there is that added pressure to make way for other customers. I am a nice panda.

Will I Return Again? Apartment coffee is a good alternative to Chye Seng Huat Hardware in the same precinct. I prefer the Apartment’s minimalist space, though it will be nice to add on more pastries or even waffles to pair with the coffee.
