Snippets: Best Singapore Hotels For Staycations | Escape Life By Checking Yourself Into These Hotels
As with the onset of the pandemic, like many avid travellers, we are now left to explore our own country. Unfortunately, while Singapore does has alot to offer for a city-state, it only measures just a under 730 sqkm. Checking into hotels will momentarily check us out from the hustle of our monotonous daily routine, giving us some respite and reminding us of our globe-trotting days. Not sure when staycation became a buzz word per se, though it is perhaps one of the trending words in an unusual year that 2020 was. And speaking of staycation, having done our fair share of mattress runs the past years, here’s our thoughts on some of the best hotels in Singapore for a staycation. Raffles Singapore
Not somewhere I would have checked out if not for the fantastic promotion launched right after the Circuit Breaker when hotels started to operate again, and I will strongly encourage everyone to check this property out once in their life. Perhaps the most famed hotel in Singapore, the hotel has been operating since 1887 and reopened in late 2019 after an extensive 2-year-long renovation. Be surprised by how well this heritage property has maintained over the years, be in awed throughout your stay by the hospitality of the staff, the delightful dining options and the newly renovated rooms. Just imagine falling asleep in this century old hotel, which I did and am dreaming of booking my next stay again – when I can afford it. (Read our review…)

The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore
Another heritage hotel on this list, the Capitol Kempinski opened in late 2018 after much delay after its original owners got themselves into some disagreement. What was meant to be The Patina, a brand under the Capella Hotel Group, was replaced by the Swiss hospitality brand Kempinski. The rest is history, and the hotel is now slowly becoming a favourite amongst locals. Be prepared to be warmly greeted by the famous Lady in Red, dine in the Michelin-chef restaurant 15 Stamford, soak in the Saltwater Relaxation Pool and shower in style with Ferragamo toiletries. Fullerton Bay Hotel
An luxury modern extension of the heritage Fullerton Hotel, the Fullerton Bay Hotel incorporates the iconic Clifford Pier to form a riverside property in the midst of the city’s business district. My stay here is memorable to say the least. The rooftop swimming pool allows you to soak in the city lights while enjoying the bubbles from the jacuzzi pool. And if you are looking to splurge, the Bay View Rooms gives you an unblocked view of the Marina Bay Sands from the comfort of your bed. (Read our review…)

Capella Singapore
Located at the resort island Sentosa, Capella Singapore gained international fame when the historic meeting between Trump and North Korea’s Kim happened back in 2018. While we may differ on our views with both, we do have to agree with their choice of hotel. Capella Singapore combines a pair of heritage building with a modern resort and comprises of an exclusive 112 rooms. Head here for a true getaway from the busy city life, and with room sizes starting from 77sqm, be ready to chill the day away. (Read our review…)

Sofitel Singapore City Centre
Guoco Tower may be Singapore’s tallest building at 290 meters, but we ain’t James Dyson afterall and will not ever be able to afford the penthouse unit at the top. Having said, you can definitely check yourself into the integrated development’s Sofitel Singapore City Centre. Don’t expect this to be just a business hotel in the CBD, the service here is a notch above and make very sure to soak in the swimming pool here, with views of the Tanjong Pagar skyscrapers towering around you.
Address: 9 Wallich Street, Guoco Tower, Singapore 078885
Andaz Singapore
A relatively newer hotel at the Duo Tower in Bugis, I have to admit that the room decor of Andaz Singapore gets to me immediately as I have always have a liking for wood furnishings. Some rooms at Andaz offers view of the Singapore city skyline, otherwise you can enjoy it from the infinity pool or the rooftop bar. Just note that the service at the hotel was rather lukewarm during our stay, and the same feedback was noted from friends whom have stayed in the hotel since. (Read our review…)
