Food Review: Champion Bolo Bun At Tanjong Pagar Road | Artisanal Freshly Baked Buns In Gorgeous Minimalist Shophouse Space

The Place I love Bolo Bun. Champion Bolo Bun is a new 3-storey Bolo Bun concept store along 92 Tanjong Pagar Road, and I was really excited to check it out. Beautiful shophouse space with minimalist, Japandi interior. Level one of the store is dedicated to the ordering counter and waiting area, while the proper dine-in is on level 2 and 3.

As a few days old store, Champion Bolo Bun is still operating as a soft launch opening hours (12pm to 3pm) till sold out. Simply order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. My tip is to head down once it opens, as the crowd formed really quickly when I went down on a weekday.

The space on level 2 is perfect for an afternoon snack. It is spacious, with pots of greenery at the corners, along with natural light.

Level 3 feels more like a private retreat space where the element of zen takes over, assuming you do not have any other worldly distractions, and I mean other patrons.

The Food The Bolo Buns are freshly baked and there is a considerable waiting time for it to be served. There are 4 types of Bolo Bun to choose from – Classic (S$4), Classic With Butter (S$5), Curry Potato (S$6), Mini Of 4 (S$4.50).

I went for the Classic With Butter and Mini Of 4. I love my Bolo Bun with butter, and this version has the butter all spread out within the bun. Love the golden crust of the texture here, and while I acknowledge that S$5 is relatively pricey, it is a pretty thick bun. Overall, it is a very good and delicious Bolo Bun.

The Mini Of 4 is essentially the same as the Classic bun, except that it is baked in 4 little portions for the ease of sharing, or eating. I definitely recommend going for the butter version.

For beverages, there are coffee or tea to go along with the Bolo buns and I had the Ice Latte (S$6) which is not too bad.

Rants Expect teething issues during the initial days of the store, as the queue management system can be improved, as well as managing the waiting time expectations for those in line.

Will I Return Again? This is easily one of the best Bolo Bun in Singapore at the moment. The gorgeous Japandi style space resonates much with me as well, so I will definitely want to be back to enjoy the buns again.
