Food Review: Legendary Hong Kong At Jurong Point | Authentic Hong Kong Teahouse Dining Experience In Singapore

The Place I finally visited Legendary Hong Kong located at the far flung Jurong Point. This popular Mong Kok inspired Hong Kong restaurant is huge, and there are four entrances that correspond to each of the sub-themes that make up the restaurant: Roasted Meats (九如烧腊), Noodles and Congee (香港粥面), Dim Sum (龙凤茶居), and “Bing Sut” The pre-cursor to “Cha Chaan Tengs” (白宫冰室) where drinks, desserts and toasts are sold.

My first impression of the space is that it does exude the busy Hong Kong teahouse or ‘Cha Caan Teng’ vibes. Service is not that polished, which is expected, right?

The Food Dim Sum breakfast was my main agenda, and generously speaking the quality is not too bad. I managed to try a variety of dishes since I travelled all the way here.

My favourite of the lot is the Custard Crust Bun With Butter (S$3.30), which has that perfect crispy crust and is buttery enough for my liking. This is a must try here.

I also like the Pan-Fried Beancurd Skin With Shrimp (S$6), Crispy Shrimp Rolls (S$6.80) and the Sautéed Turnip Cake With XO Sauce (S$6.80).

The Rice Rolls, on the other hand, are quite average. I had the Rice Roll With BBQ Pork (S$5.80) and the Rice Roll With Prawns & Chives (S$6.50).

I also find the fried items better than the steamed ones in general. I ordered the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (S$6), Spinach Dumpling With Prawn & Garlic (S$5.80) and the Steamed Pork Ribs In Black Bean Sauce (S$5.80).

For a sinful treat, I succumbed to the HK Imported Nissin Noodle section by ordering the Noodle With Luncheon Meat & Egg In Soup (S$7.80). This bowl of noodles is really satisfying and it kind of completes my HK teahouse dining experience.

Rants The restaurant opens at 10am on Sunday, and the queue formed up quickly during my visit. Be prepared to queue.

Will I Return Again? Overall, the food is above average at Legendary Hong Kong and the dining vibe is on point for a pseudo Hong Kong experience. Hopefully it will open in the east soon!
