Food Review: Cheng Kee Beef Kway Teow At Kovan | Delicious Beef Noodles Stall In Hougang With Cincalok
The Place Located near Kovan MRT, Cheng Kee Beef Kway Teow is tucked away in a coffeeshop which is easily overlooked given that Kovan Hawker Centre is nearby. This corner stall dishes out delicious beef noodles, and has been around in Kovan for decades.
The Food There are plenty of options on the menu and you can choose from a variety of combinations such as beef meat, beef meatballs, tendon along with the type of noodles you prefer.
I had the Mixed Beef Meat Bee Hoon (Dry, S$4) and given that it was a takeaway, the noodle travels well. I like that the dry version is not that dry, as there is still a thick layer of beef broth.
The broth is flavourful, and you can pair it with some chilli and cincalok condiments for an added punch to the noodles.
I also tried the Mixed Beef Meat Bee Hoon (Soup, S$4) which is really comforting. Comparatively, I somehow prefer the dry version as I like that slightly starchy texture on the dry noodles.
The beef slices here are quite thin and relatively tender too.
Rants The portion is relatively small.
Will I Return Again? I am looking forward to dining at the coffeeshop the next time round, just to have the piping hot noodles right away. If you love beef noodles, this stall is worth checking out for sure.

Used to be one of the better beef noodles around..sad to say, is no longer on my way list after recent visits..

It is true! The broth used to be much much better when I had this years back. It somehow got less intense over the years whenever I revisit it. But still a good bowl of Beef Kway Teow!

Quality has deteriorated so much that it’s not worth a visit now.

The cook is very rude and unreasonable !!! I asked the lady if I could order first and come back later to collect (there was 3 persons in the queue) , she agreed n I paid for the order. When I returned about 20 mins later. The cook refused my order n even wanted to pick up a fight! In the end, the lady refunded me the money and I left.

I agreed the soup base was vey mild which used to be very good. The cook was not obliging evenI requested to put the noodle onto the plastic bag and the thick gravy onto onto my container which I brought along to separate. He refused.
