Hotel Review: Crowne Plaza Changi Airport King Bed Standard Runway View | One Of The World’s Best Airport Hotels

The Hotel Located at Terminal 3 of Changi Airport, I checked out Crowne Plaza Changi Airport last month for a weekend staycation, an award-winning property which was voted the World’s Best Airport Hotel and Best Airport Hotel in Asia in the Skytrax World Airport Awards for 7 consecutive years (2015 – 2022). The IHG hotel property has a direct access from Terminal 3 and Changi Airport Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station, and it is also directly linked to Jewel via an indoor bridge, as well as to Terminal 1 and 2 via the complimentary skytrain. There are 563 rooms, including premier rooms with runway views and selected deluxe rooms with a view of Jewel, pool terrace club rooms and suites.

In addition to overnight stays, there is also the option of day-use room which is great for transit passengers, where you can book a stay and gain access to the hotel’s facilities for four, six or eight hours, between 8am to 8pm.

I like the fact that the walkway to the rooms is sheltered and open air, which exudes that resort vibes especially when there is a nice breeze as well.

The Room I checked into the King Bed Standard Runway View (36 sqm) and was assigned a room on level 9 of the hotel, the highest level of the property. As the name of the room category suggests, one big highlight is the runway view which every aviation geek would get excited about.

It is quite therapeutic to gaze out aimlessly and watch planes land and take off by the window of the room.

The layout of the room is quite straightforward where you get a spacious work desk and fast wifi connectivity. There is also a two-seater sofa right in front of the bed, as well as additional in-built seating space which extends to the open concept wardrobe.

The spacious bathroom comes with a bathtub and a standing shower zone, and it is open concept in the sense that you also get a direct view of the runway and room from the bathroom if you choose not to lower the blinds.

As the room faces the runway, the sound of planes is audible, and it might affect your sleep if you are a light sleeper.

The Facilities The outdoor landscaped pool is definitely one of the highlights of my stay. For an airport hotel, the pool size is huge and it features a decent lap length for serious swimming.

The best part of the design is the lush landscape which exudes that garden-like vibes which is befitting of the garden city image of Singapore.

There are also pockets of zones within the maze-like design of the pool where you can enjoy some quiet jacuzzi time. That said, it would be better if there are more cabanas in addition to the sun deck chairs as there is only one cabana for now.

On the same level as the pool is the fitness centre which is decently equipped.

The Restaurants The main dining concept of the property is Azur, an all-day dining concept which is also the spot for breakfast.

The breakfast spread is buffet-style and is a mix of local Singaporean dishes along with Continental options.

Other F&B concepts include Lobby Lounge and Bar ’75.

Rants Some parts of the room do look a little dated, and I understand from the team that there are plans to renovate the rooms soon. Unfortunately, the Club Lounge was also closed for use during my stay.

Overall Experience Crowne Plaza Changi Airport is definitely the best airport hotel in Singapore currently. It is also a convenient staycation option if you want to explore Jewel Changi, though I also think that it is timely for an update of the rooms and dining concepts.
