Food Review: JIHO Samgyetang SBCD At 18 Cross Street | Delicious Ginseng Chicken Soup From Korea
The Place Korean Samgyetang is definitely brewing a storm in Singapore in the past year, with the latest addition in the CBD of Singapore being JIHO Samgyetang SBCD. Located at basement one of 18 Cross Street, JIHO Samgyetang SBCD is a partnership between JIHOHanbang Samgyetang and SBCD F&B Group, where the former has been simmering samgyetang in Korea since 1991 with over 80 locations across Korea, Sydney and Shanghai. SBCD F&B Group is most famously known for running SBCD Korean Tofu House in Singapore. This is also JIHOHanbang Samgyetang Southeast Asian debut in Singapore.

The space of JIHO Samgyetang SBCD is huge with an opening concept layout and a few private dining rooms.

The Food With 35 years of samgyetang heritage behind it, every bowl is rooted in hanbang, the centuries-old Korean practice of herbal medicine. At JIHO Samgyetang SBCD, the signature Healthy Samgyetang features a patented mixture of Korean traditional herbs to relieve fatigue and support joint health.
In addition to Healthy Samgyetang, the menu features five other samgyetang varieties, each built around a distinct ingredient story, as well as samgyejuk, specialties, meals and sides.
I started with the Squid and Minari Salad (avocado and seaweed) (S$29.80) which is a mildly spicy spin on a salad starter. It comes separately with seaweed where you can wrap the salad and avo with it!

I highly recommend the Kimchi Pancake (S$19.80) – crisp texture with just the right kimchi flavour.

I had to go for the signature Healthy Samgyetang (S$29.80) since it was my first time here. It comes in a generous portion of ginseng chicken where the soup is flavourful and very enjoyable to sip.

The glutinous rice within the chicken is also soft in texture which makes it easy to stomach unlike some other versions.

As an alternative to Samgyetang, there is also Samgyejuk which is a traditional Korean ginseng and chicken porridge. Instead of a whole chicken, you get shredded chicken meat in porridge instead.

The Beauty Samgyejuk (S$29.80) is a comforting option to go for.

Rants Not much of a dining privacy with the open concept layout if that is a consideration.
Will I Return Again? Overall, I think the dishes here are quite good and if you love Samgyetang, this is definitely one to add to your list. Great option for those working in the CBD.
