The Place It was a random walk after my breakfast at Tampines Round Market and I chanced upon Granny’s Pancakes at Kim San Leng Kopitiam. This popular stall in Tampines Street 11 makes their pancakes freshly every day by batches, and it doesn’t take very long for the one batch of pancake to be sold from my observation.

The Food Three flavours of pancakes are offered here, all at S$0.80 each – Red Bean, Coconut and Peanut. The only exception is Peanut Butter which goes at S$0.90. After standing in the queue for close to twenty minutes, I decided to get the peanut butter flavour.

The pancake here belongs to the soft category instead of the thin and crispy version. I made a special request to the auntie to sell me the edges of the huge slab of pancake, as the edges are as crispy as it can get.

It is heartening that the auntie who prepares my pancakes was very generous with the fillings, as she topped it with more peanut along the way. Generous slab of peanut butter was also spread on the pancake.

The taste of the pancake is amazing. It helps that there are heaps of peanut fillings, and it was still slightly warmed when I had it as it was from a fresh batch. I like the taste of the batter and the texture is also just right for me. The quality of the peanut is really good as well as it is very fragrant.

Rants Be prepared to wait in line as it takes time to cut each batch of pancake and top it up with the different fillings. It doesn’t help as well if the person in front of you have multiple orders.

Will I Return Again? Granny’s Pancakes ranks amongst one of the best I have had from a hawker stall. No reason not to make a detour here if you are in Tampines!
