Flight Review: Singapore Airlines Business Class Auckland to Singapore | Solid Business Class Offering By SQ On Boeing 777-300ER
The Route I was in Auckland recently for holiday and one of the things I was looks forward to is my flight back from Auckland to Singapore. Planned the miles redemption for business class way in advanced, and I boarded SQ286 from Auckland to Singapore with much excitement. There is only one daily flight which is operated by SQ on the Auckland to Singapore route.
The route operates on Boeing 777-300ER, which is neither the oldest nor the newest business class offering of Singapore Airlines. Nevertheless, my first impression was that it is a relatively well-maintained fleet from the state of the hardware, and I was all ready for the 10 hours flight back.
The Seat With a width of 28″, there is nothing much to complain about. There is more than ample room to even slot a bag on the seat without feeling cramped at all.
In terms of compartments, there are well-designed slots for me to safe keep my travel documents, a DSLR camera, and if you have a mid-size travel pouch, you need not worry about the lack of space.
Charging docks are also conveniently placed on the left side of the seat which makes it easy to charge your phone and use it at the same time. The seat can also be fully made into a flat 180 degrees bed and with a bed length of 78″, you can fully stretch legs even if you are 1.8m tall.
The Food Champagne was served even before the flight took off.
Two full meals are served on this flight route, where I took the chance to experience the Book The Cook service. For dinner service, it was a no brainer for me to select the Grilled New Zealand Wakanui Beef Fillet. For supper service, I pre-selected the Grilled New Zealand King Salmon. This has to be selected prior to your flight departure.
The crew helped to set up the dining table with white table cloth, before the meal started with some lights bites like the signature SQ satay. This was followed by salad, before the mains where the Wakanui Beef turned it to be really good. It was grilled to a tender medium rare texture and I was impressed at the taste on air. Dessert is a choice of ice cream and the elaborate cheese trolley.
Overall Experience In summary, the business class offering by SQ on Boeing 777-300ER is a solid experience and if you are planning a trip to New Zealand, this leg is one of the most value for money miles redemption for zone 9 (same zone as Australian cities like Sydney and Melbourne) at 62,000 miles for one-way saver. In terms of service, it was quite pleasant for me even though I feel that the service could be even better.
