Food Review: Lam’s Garden At City Gate, Beach Road | Famous Twin Towers Crispy Noodles By Chef Lam [Closed]
The Place Originally a hawker stall at Golden Mile Food Centre, Lam’s Garden was also previously known as Chef Lam’s Restoran which I visited back in February. The team has relocated to City Gate along Beach Road, and rebranded as Lam’s Garden. I haven’t had the chance to visit the new space, but saw from its social media page that it spots a casual looking interior.
The Food I managed to have some of the dishes during this circuit breaker period, where islandwide delivery is a flat fee of S$5 with a minimum order of S$15. This is quite a good delivery deal as there are many restaurants which charge a much higher delivery fee and minimum spend quota.
The dishes are largely centred around Singaporean Zi Char dishes at a relatively affordable price. The signature dish which I had previously is back on the delivery menu, the Twin Towers Crispy Noodles (S$10). Despite the delivery, I am glad that the crispy noodles comes packed separately and I was able to attempt to recreate the standing twin tower of the noodles. This is still one of my favourite dishes on the menu!
The Claypot Mee Tai Mak (S$10) is surprisingly quite delicious as well, as the noodles is soaked in the delicious broth which comprises of ingredients like clams and prawns.
For meats, go for the Garlic Crispy Spring Chicken (S$15), a generous portion for the price. The chicken is relatively tender, though the skin and texture is not exactly crispy. Probably a misnomer here.
The last dish I had was the Sambal Sotong (S$15), which is actually a dish best to go along with rice. The spiciness is just right and not too much, while the Sotong flavour is fresh.
Rants I was quite confused by the multiple change of locations and names of the team in the span of 6 months. Hopefully it is here to stay at City Gate.
Will I Return Again? Technically, I haven’t visited Lam’s Garden in the restaurant itself and had a home dining experience this time. I am definitely keen to have the dishes at the restaurant once circuit breaker ends.
