Food Review: Cassia At Capella Hotel Singapore | Fine Cantonese Cuisine Tucked Away In Sentosa

The Place Located in Capella Singapore, one of the most beautiful hotels in Singapore, Cassia is a contemporary Cantonese restaurant which I have visited a few times but never quite got done to writing a review. The interior of Cassia is classy, designed by André Fu and there are private rooms and outdoor tables with a view of the Singapore skyline.

The Food I visited the restaurant recently to redeem my GHA Discovery Lunch, which entitles me to a 5-Course Lunch with Tea Pairing.

First course is a Dum Sum Platter of Steamed Siew Mai topped with Abalone, Steamed Charcoal Barbecue Arvinyo Omega 3 Pork Bun with Black Truffle, and the Boneless Roasted Duck with Fresh Mango and Lemon Sauce.

My favourite is the Steamed Bun, which spots a tinge of truffle flavour. The trio of dim sum is paired with the Snow Chrysanthemum tea.

Second course is the Double-Boiled Rich Chicken Broth with Live Prawn, Scallop Bamboo Pith and Shredded Yam. This soup is very luscious, which I like.

Third course is the Steamed Cod Fish with Black Garlic and Light Soya Sauce, paired with the Bai Mu Dan & Melon tea. A good rendition of cod here, where the black garlic complements the fish very well.

The last savoury course is the Pan-Fried Scallop, Fried Rice with Preserved Chinese Sausages. Not much surprise here, as I’m not a big fan of a heavy rice dish at the end of a meal.

For dessert, I had the Chilled Green Tea Jelly with Homemade Aloe Vera Yogurt.

Rants Not sure if it is because it was a Sunday lunch I visited, I feel that the meal was very fast-paced. Not quite what I would expect for an idyllic Sunday lunch at Capella.

Will I Return Again? Cassia remains one of the more underrated Chinese restaurants in Singapore, and the location off mainland Singapore is probably one of the main reasons. That said, the restaurant is housed in one of the most beautiful hotels in Singapore, and for that, along with the generally good quality of food, it is worth a return visit.
