Food Review: Edition Rooftop Bar & Restaurant, Hidden Rooftop Dining Concept Near Dhoby Ghaut In Citadines Connect City Centre Hotel

The Place It is a brave decision for a new restaurant to open at the rooftop of Citadines Connect City Centre Hotel. Edition Rooftop Bar & Restaurant is the latest addition to founders Kelvin Hong and Paul Tan’s portfolio of F&B concepts, which include the likes of Cooperage at 42 Hong Kong Street and Quinn’s Irish Pub at Millenia Walk. Edition restaurant is located beside the swimming pool and spans over 3,000 sq ft which boasts a outdoor garden seating in addition to its indoor setting.

The Food Breakfast Edition and Daily Edition (lunch and dinner) menus, as the restaurant also offers breakfast for hotel guests. I visited for dinner, and the culinary direction here is a mix of local and international creations.

My meal started with the Edition’s Cioppono (S$18) which is basically a seafood broth. You get a mix of prawns and clams in the tomato seafood broth and white wine, along with parsley and basil. The soup is sweet and comforting for a start with the fresh seafood flavours.

Next up was the Charred Broccoli (S$12) with Kailan purée, garlic aioli, parmesan cheese and shredded seaweed. A surprisingly good starter for me as the broccoli spots a soft texture which makes it easy to chew, and I love the cheese and aioli elements which makes the vegetable more savoury.

Not Your Ordinary Ham & Cheese (S$22) is a dish where my expectations are heightened, just from its name. This dish definitely feels more of a cafe brunch dish than a dinner dish, but I am glad I had it. Perfectly grilled sourdough which is crispy, along with delicious country-style pork ham, Serrano pork ham, miso mustard and melted Brie cheese. The cheesiness is just right, one of the best ham & cheese toast I had recently.

The Catalonian’s Pick (S$18) is a grilled tiger prawn dish with romesco sauce, fried shallots and sesame seaweed. Go for this dish if you love your prawns.

For mains, I had the Senor Pork (S$42), a beautifully grilled Iberico pork shoulder with roasted pumpkin purée and grilled baby cabbage. I was asked for the preferred doneness of the pork, and I chose medium-well, which works out well for me as the pork meat is still quite tender and flavourful.

Rants I am not a fan of its predominantly black finishings and the indoor dining space feels too open concept, rather than an intimate dining ambience.

Will I Return Again? Ignoring the interior of the restaurant, the dishes I had at Edition are quite good. The location is quite obscure in the sense that it is a destination dining hidden in a rooftop of a hotel, though it is really conveniently located close to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station.

This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.

  1. This place is over rated , very over priced and I have no plans to go back.
The online photographs of the alfresco area are taken from nice angles but overall the experience was very underwhelming!

We ordered the Satay, Burger and a couple of desserts (Burnet cheese cake). The burger was good but the Satay and cheese cake was very sad.
However, the staff were very courteous.
