Food Review: Bottega Di Carna At Mondrian Singapore Duxton | Beautiful Italian Restaurant By Renowned Butcher Dario Cecchini

The Place One of the new exciting developments in Duxton, Mondrian Singapore Duxton is the brand’s first property in Singapore which also houses an Italian restaurant, Bottega di Carna. Located at the lobby level of the hotel, Bottega di Carna is the vibrant contemporary Italian restaurant by Dario Cecchini, also dubbed as “The Greatest Butcher in The World.”

The space of the restaurant is gorgeous, which takes on a playful yet elegant interior, and it busks in natural light in the day from the floor to ceiling windows with a view of the garden.

The Food Expect homemade pastas, cold cut meats, a good variety of starters and Josper grilled meats on the ala cate menu here.

Since there were a few of us, we decided to try a bottle of red, Tenuta San Guido Le Difese (S$110), from Tuscany, Italy. Made from 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Sangiovese, the wine is quite light for a red, and my group of diners love it.

For a start, the Seabass Crudo (S$26) with grilled zucchini, lemon & marjoram oil comes is quite refreshing with fresh slices of the seabass.

Another easy starter on the palate is the crispy Calamari (S$20) with lemon aioli sauce.

For pastas, the Ravioli (S$18) with pumpkin, cacioricotta & sage is a safe option with its creamy sauce and fresh pasta flavours.

The other pasta I had was the Green Lasagna (S$28) which is quite a deviation from the usual red lasagna. This is a combination of kale, truffle & taleggio, and I do like the unique combination of flavours as opposed to the traditional lasagna.

For meats, the Wood Fired Spring Chicken (S$42) with herb gremolata is a value for money choice as you get a whole chicken here. The chicken meat is quite tender and juicy, and this is one of those dishes great for sharing.

I would also recommend going for one of the beef dishes, where I had the Stockyard Ribeye 280g (S$88) which features Australian Black Angus. Good to share amongst 3-4 pax, you get a really flavourful beef profile here where my medium-rare steak is done beautifully and spots a succulent flavour.

Rants Some parts of the restaurant feel too “open concept”, especially the tables right beside the lift lobby. The most private seats are definitely the inner ones near the window.

Will I Return Again? Beautiful dining space and a communal-style menu, Bottega di Carna is best suited for group gatherings in my opinion. The dishes I had are overall quite good, and I do see this as a popular “meating” spot in Duxton going forward.
