Food Review: Le Bon Funk At Club Street | Hip Fine-Casual Restaurant By The Lo & Behold Group

The Place Nestled in the vibrant Club Street, Singapore, Le Bon Funk Club Street has been opened since 2018 and I only managed to check it out recently for dinner. With one other outlet in Holland Village, the Club Street outlet is the OG and the space and interior exudes a chic and trendy ambience. This is one of the concepts under The Lo & Behold Group which is also behind Odette, Claudine and one of the trendiest concepts in 2023, casual Italian restaurant Fico.

You can choose between the regular tables or bar seats, where the former is definitely more suited for small groups. The interior takes on a contemporary design with a touch of rustic charm, which makes the space an inviting place to spend a relaxed evening with friends or date night.

The Food The rotating menu takes on a sharing plate concept with small bites followed by big plates and desserts. I started with the Paradise Jelly And Foie Gras Toast (S$22/2 pieces), which is quite a unique foie gras dish in the sense that you get milk bread smeared with cedar tree jelly and topped with a pile of grated frozen foie gras. I like that slightly frozen grated texture of the foie gras which is something I never had before.

As one of the most value for money dishes on the menu, it would be a sin not to have the Parmesan And Tapioca Fritters (S$8/2 pieces). I like the crispy, golden fried texture where you get a nice touch of cheese stretch within.

Another dish I highly recommend is the Full Blood Wagyu Tartare With Hickory Sticks (S$32), which comes with an egg yolk. Mix it all up and you get a very flavouful and well-marinated beef tartare with a hint of spice. The best parts? The crispy, grated potatoes which adds to the umami flavour of this dish.

The Beef Tongue And Gribiche Sandwich (S$28) is great for sharing as it already comes with two nicely sliced portions. There is a generous amount of thinly sliced beef tongue along with the punchy gribiche sauce. My favourite part is the crispy toast!

For mains, I had the Whole Heritage Chicken, Roasted Sunchokes, And Kale (S$74). This takes about 45min to an hour to cook, so do order it once you are seated if you are pressed for time. The long wait does raise expectations, and it was worthwhile. You get a whole chicken in its full glory, where I find it amazing that every part of the chicken is juicy, including the breast meat. The chicken meat is also aromatic and flavourful, served along with baby potatoes and crisp kale which are equally good.

The portion is good for 2-3 people, and I can understand why this is one of the signature dishes at Le Bon Funk which has been on the menu since 2018. One of the best roast chickens I have had.

Rants The only slight downside of Le Bon Funk is that it can get quite busy during peak hours, which might lead to slightly longer wait times. Word of caution on the bar seats near the entrance which could get a little warm.

Will I Return Again? Overall, I had a great meal at Le Bon Funk where the fine-casual and unpretentious dining ambience and fun menu make it one restaurant I would return to again. If you’re seeking a dining experience that combines elegance with a relaxed vibe, this is one spot to check out.
