Food Review: MeatLiquor SIN @ Duxton Road | Awesome vibe, mediocre burgers [Closed]
The Place Do we still need more gourmet burgers? MeatLiquor SIN, the latest outpost in the burger scene, is a famous London burger and cocktail joint which recently open its doors at Duxton Road. With hip neon lights, punky music and a casual chill-lax atmosphere, I can see why this will be a popular hangout spot at night.

The Food Expect burgers such as the Cheeseburger ($19), Dead Hippie ($22) and Buffalo Chicken Burger ($20). Burgers aside, the bites which caught my eye are the Sambal Fries ($10) and the Deep-Fried Mac & Cheese ($15).
We decided on the Dead Hippie ($22) without much controversy, basically a generous chunk of mustard-fried beef patties with the dead hippie sauce and minced white onions. To be honest, I had high expectations of this before trying, only to be left slightly disappointed. The beef patty has a rather bland taste on the whole, without much punch and flavour on its own. As for the bun, I find its texture too soft to go nicely with the patty. Maybe this is the authentic London style, but it doesn’t quite resonate with me unfortunately.
For some small bites, the Sambal Fries ($10) is not too bad an option from the slight sambal kick, topped with fried egg and crispy onions.
Another letdown for me is the Deep-Fried Mac & Cheese ($15), a relatively new item on the menu. I was excited to try this new dish on the first day of its launch, as I was curious how this fried rendition will turn out. The taste feels like it was pre-made and straight out from the freezer of a supermarket, bland in flavour and seriously, who stole my cheese?
Rants With no reservations at the moment, be prepared to wait in line during peak dinner hours. If you are driving, the congested and limited parking slots around the restaurant may be a pain.
Will I Return Again? MeatLiquor SIN is a place to return for its chill-lax and vibrant vibe. As for the food, it did not leave an impression on me and certainly not a place I will return for its burgers.

I think with a bit of chopping and changing with the menu, MEATLiquor will get it right eventually. It is a good rival to Three Buns in Singapore.
