New Restaurants

Birders
The ever changing dining scene of Tras Street has seen another new opening recently, the few weeks’ old Birders is a Japanese Yakitori and Grills restaurant with a strong focus on dishing out grills from the different parts of a chicken. The long shophouse setting of Birders has a casual and modern vibe, unlike the traditional rowdy and smoky impression we have of Yakitori bars and Izakayas. And hopefully you get to meet the actor-turned entrepreneur behind this restaurant, Adam Chen. [Read more here…]

Completing the casual vibe, Flying Monkey gets a full-fledged bar, manned by famous bartender, Kannan aka The Beard – previously with Buyan, Cufflink Club and LongChim. For the occasional cravings for Indian food, and if you are looking for a more relaxing chill-out restaurant, Flying Monkey will be amongst the options. [Read more here…]

Song Garden Chinese Restaurant
Located at Mercure Singapore Bugis, Song Garden Chinese Restaurant is one of the newest Cantonese restaurant to open in town. We came with high expectations, especially after learning that both Executive Chefs hail from Hong Kong with many years of culinary experiences. The interior of Song Garden is modern, which we feel the ambience is a good balance of formal and casual dining. Song Kee Fishball Noodles
When it closed abruptly last year at its Upper Serangoon Road outlet, it took many by surprise. Indeed, we have to confess that we didn’t even have the chance to visit its previous outlet after hearing the rave reviews from friends. Finally, it has made a comeback last month, and has opened at 128 Tembeling Road in Katong. The best part of the bowl we had is undoubtedly the handmade ‘herh keow’ – make very sure you order more servings of this. Buzzing Restaurants

D9 Cakery at Hilton Singapore launched new Saturday High Tea Buffet
When we found out that Hilton Singapore has launched a new Saturday High Tea at D9 Cakery, we didn’t harbour high expectations. We were glad the experience turned out to be quite overwhelming. At S$41++ per person, we concluded that this must be one of the most value for money high tea in Singapore at the moment. There is a good mix of savoury and sweet treats (we’ll get to that shortly), in addition to the unlimited servings of TWG Tea selections (there are ten flavours available such as Darjeeling, Chamomile and Earl Grey) or coffee options. [Read more here…]

Some of the highlights on the special menu include the Tong’an Pan-fried crab, Traditional DOuble-boiled Buddha Jumps Over The Wall and Boiled Baby Oysters with Winter Melon and Pepper. The new look takes on a palette of browns and neutral tones that exudes a sophisticated and chic vibe. Also, the restaurant regales guests with picturesque views of the city’s skyline on the outdoor alfresco area, which leads to the patio and stylish pool area, as ample sunlight streams through the elegant floor-to- ceiling windows. Befitting of the space, the menu features authentic Italian fare reinterpreted with creativity, passion and finesse by Chef Marco Manocchio.

Manhattan bar at Regent Singapore remains one of our close favourite over the years with its sleek and classy New York City ambience and on point cocktails and bar bites. The restaurant and bar just turned three years old last month, and is set to introduce the ‘Eras of New York’ menu come 8 May – 5 eras, 18 food offerings and 20 delicious craft cocktails.
