The Place If you are familiar with Whampoa Food Centre, there is one stall which is very popular that sells Lor Mee – Best Lu Mian In Town. I was staring hard at the stall, as this is not a slogan but the stall name. Talk about confidence and expectations.

I joined the queue during this circuit breaker and waited for about 30 minutes before my order was taken.

The Food Available in S$3 or S$4, the Lor Mee here is topped with a good variety of ingredients. There are fried fish, ngoh hiang and pork, along with the noodles in the dark sauce.

I like the fried ingredients, it is satisfying to bite through the crispy fried meats soaked in the dark gravy sauce. The sauce itself is not too bad, though I wouldn’t say it is my favourite version of Lor Mee as I prefer the sauce to be more intense and flavourful.

Rants Will you wait 30 minutes for Lor Mee. Be prepared.

Will I Return Again? The Best Lu Mian In Town offers an above average Lor Mee, but I wouldn’t queue for the same amount of time the next visit. There are other stalls to try in Whampoa and I do prefer the Lor Mee from Old Airport Road or Bendemeer Food Centre. Where is your favourite Lor Mee stall?
