Food Review: Beo Crescent Hainanese Curry Rice | Famous And Popular No Name Hainanese Curry Rice In Singapore

The Place Located at Beo Crescent estate, Beo Crescent Hainanese Curry Rice has been around for as long as I can recall. The estate is amongst the oldest public housing projects in Singapore today, built back in 1971. The stall is located at a rather nondescript coffeeshop, and you might not even notice the stall if not for its snaking queue.

Based on information online, Beo Crescent Curry Rice has been around since late 1980s, and is also known as No Name Hainanese Curry Rice to some.

The Food One of the most popular curry rice stalls in Singapore, you will find long queues whenever you are here. Basically, it is ‘cai fan’ style, though paired with signature dishes such as fried pork chop, braised pork belly, fried egg and stewed cabbage, and the rice drenched with a mix of braised ‘zup’ and curry sauce. If that does not sound delish to you yet, you just have not try a good plate of curry rice.

To start, the Fried Pork Chop here is marinated overnight, and is extremely crisp with the small crumbs to-die-for. This is a must order for every curry rice meal, and Beo Crescent does it very well, if not the best.

Another must order item is the Braised Pork Belly. The rendition here is tender and juicy, with a light braised sauce. Get a portion of the Stewed Cabbage too, to enjoy some crunch when indulging the curry rice.

Of course, a Fried Egg with a runny yolk completes the meal here at Beo Crescent.

The curry sauce here is not overly cloying, though it packs good flavours. The best part about curry rice is to mix the rice with the curry sauce and a good amount of braised ‘zup’! The mix of flavours here, together with the dishes is the reason why hawker food in Singapore is such a delight!

Rants The long queues may deter some, but you should not.

Will I Return Again? Been heading back ever since. Make sure you order the dishes and have them all served on a single plate, rather than separate them. Curry rice is always best enjoyed when it gets a little messy.

The food is actually expensive for an old coffee shop like this. You must be new . Your 2/5 rating on price does not sound right. I have been eating there for nearly 20 years. 4/5 is more like it.
