Singapore – Our idea of a romantic restaurant is one where the dining ambience is cosy and comfortable, and the food has to be above average to say the least as there is no use having a gorgeous space with mediocre food. Bad food does ruin a good date night. Here is a list of what we feel are some of the most romantic spots in Singapore!

Restaurant Born 
One of the most anticipated new restaurant openings in Singapore this year, Restaurant Born by Chef Zor Tan is another fine addition to the vibrant fine-dining scene in Singapore. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful – high ceiling, contemporary and elegant, with the main dining hall spotting a counter seating which overlooks the open kitchen directly. The paper sculpture in the main dining hall is the centrepiece of the restaurant and it draws the eye to the high ceiling of the space which glows from the skylight. Head here if you want to impress your date over a sophisticated menu, where Born showcases a cross-cultural Contemporary cuisine, with nine guiding principles that become the manifesto of his cooking – Birth, Roots, Memories, Craft, Relationship, Vicissitudes, Time, Progress, and Legacy. Claudine Restaurant  
As one of the newest restaurants in Dempsey which took over the space of The White Rabbit, the new restaurant by Odette’s Chef Julien Royer is gorgeous. The interior revamp of the space at Claudine is perhaps worth half your spendings at the restaurant. The upper half of the chapel has been painted with a very bold dark red colour, while the lower half takes on a more French countryside colour palate of light brown and beige. Pangium
How often do we get a standalone restaurant in Singapore, not to mention one which is nestled in a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Located within The Orangery at the Gallop Extension of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a private road leads the path to Pangium, a beautiful space surrounded by lush greenery by Chef-Owner Malcolm Lee and the COMO Group. Chef Malcolm is also behind Candlenut, a One-Michelin star Peranakan restaurant in Dempsey. Contemporary Straits cuisine is the ethos at Pangium where you can expect a series of snacks, mains and sharing dishes. Altro Zafferano
Dining with a view of Singapore’s skyline is easily one of the main selling points of Altro Zafferano, which reopened in the second half of 2022 after a revamp of its menu and interior. The restaurant focuses on contemporary Southern Italian cuisine where there are multiple seating options ranging from cosy booth seats to large round tables in the main dining area. The new interior space of Altro Zafferano feels more refreshed than its previous look, and I certainly welcome the idea of doing away with white tablecloths as it feels more fine-casual now as compared to before. [Read more here…]

Bedrock Origin 
Located at the new Oasia Resort Sentosa, Bedrock Origin is the second restaurant by the acclaimed steakhouse Bedrock Bar & Grill in Somerset.  The interior of Bedrock Origin is contemporary chic, with a mix of the main dining hall, private dining rooms and an al fresco dining area. The thought of an island escape is romantic in some ways, and we like the elegant dining ambience of Bedrock Origin where wine and steaks go well for a lovely date night. Sol & Ora
Getting to The Outpost Hotel on Sentosa is a journey in itself and Sol & Ora restaurant overlooks a rooftop pool where the sunset view is gorgeous. The menu takes inspiration from Latin-Mediterranean countries such as Italy, France, Spain and Greece, where the restaurant is an all-day concept from breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea to dinner. The dining ambience is relaxed, and it definitely feels like you are not in Singapore. Cloudstreet 
While the entrance of the 2-Michelin Star Cloudstreet looks nondescript, it transforms to a whole different world upon entry. There is a cosy holding area at the entrance, and I was drawn to the huge cloud-like feature right under the skylight. The restaurant occupies a two-storey shophouse space, and the L-shape counter seats take centrestage of the interior, which I feel are the best seats for a complete dining experience. If you fancy more privacy, there are also a couple of tables fit for couples or small groups. Firangi Superstar 
You don’t get a cinematic dining experience in Singapore often and the new Firangi Superstar along Craig Road is all out to redefine that notion. The New Indian restaurant doesn’t play on the traditional Indian dishes, but redefines Indian cuisine through the lens of a foreigner. The space is pretty dramatic as well. There are four themed rooms, starting with the Officer’s Club at the entrance, proceeding to the Old Railway Room, followed by the opulence of the Elephant Palace, and finally Jungle Lodge. Every room is full of character, and while it seems like an eclectic mix of decorations, it all gels well together like a posh mansion. In all aspects, it feels like a cinematic escape which can be quite romantic. Nobu Singapore 
The setting of Nobu Singapore is beautiful, a renowned dining concept by celebrity chef and restaurateur. It is located on level 3 of Four Seasons Hotel Singapore where the space features a designer outdoor Japanese garden which you need to walk past before reaching the main restaurant building. The interior of Nobu Singapore exudes contemporary Japanese style, with wooden finishings and is also the world’s first Nobu restaurant to feature a Chef’s Table as part of a private dining space within the restaurant. The main dining hall spots a high ceiling and is elegant looking, complete with private dining rooms and two customised Teppanyaki private rooms. For the food, it New-Style Japanese cuisine, mainly split into cold and hot dishes, tempura, sushi maki, sashimi and desserts. Fleur De Sel Le Restaurant 
Chef owner Alexandre Lozachmeur runs this restaurant with his wife, and that itself is quite a romantic notion. That aside, the dining space was revamped in the past year spotting a much brighter dining ambience with floral prints, rattan boards and furniture, an open concept kitchen, all of which add to the pleasant dining ambience. La Dame De Pic 
The French fine-dining restaurant is by three-Michelin-starred French chef Anne-Sophie Pic, and it is the signature restaurant of Raffles Hotel Singapore. The interior of La Dame de Pic is decked in neutral tones, and The interior of La Dame de Pic is decked in neutral tones, in the day, there is nice natural light streaming through the restaurant, while the evening mode is not too dim and sets a romantic dining ambience. Restaurant Jag 
Restaurant Jag is a shophouse One-Michelin starred restaurant helmed by Michelin star chef Jeremy Gillon, dishing out classic French fares. The contemporary setting of the main dining space is intimate with just seven tables, followed by an open kitchen where I could smell the aroma of the dishes prepared. Corner House  
The One-Michelin starred restaurant is located in a colonial and preserved bungalow in Botanical Gardens, which makes it quite a romantic start just walking through the gardens to get to the restaurant. One tip is to request for the air-conditioned seating at the Verandah, which is surrounded by the lush greenery of the garden. The greenery and space really makes the dining experience a little more special, if I were to compare it to the indoor seats which look like any other restaurant. [Read more here…]

Botanico 
The interior of Botanico is a harmonious balance of elegance and simplicity, with modern touches from its table wares to the lights, a nice juxtaposition with the colonial feel at first glance. The surprise didn’t stop here. Walk towards the outdoor dining area and it transformed to an outdoor bar where diners can choose to have their dinner as well. My threshold for heat is low but Botanico has an ingenious solution to combine alfresco dining in a cool setting in Singapore which sounds oxymoronic – there are ample outdoor air conditioning installed at the side walls, sufficient to create that pseudo cool ambience to make alfresco dining a pleasant experience in our tropical climate. Ocean Restaurant  
Touted to be Southeast Asia’s only underwater dining experience, this is a romantic restaurant in Resorts World Sentosa if you seek comfort dining amidst the sea of marine animals. The best seats are inevitably the ones right beside the glass window, where you can expect Manta Rays and Baby Sharks to stare into your face. Otherwise, most of the other tables in the restaurant give a good view of the aquarium. For marine lovers, there are approximately 40,000 marine animals behind those thick glass. [Read more here…]

Vue 
This is the city dining kind of romantic venue if you are into city views (though less so if you already enjoy the same view from your office building). The restaurant’s interior is amazing with the high arch ceiling which makes the whole dining space like a sophisticated tunnel, where its interior light dances occasionally by changing colours, like aurora just to exaggerate a little. 1-Atico 
The interior of 1-Atico is gorgeous which houses three concepts – Fire, Flnt and Atico Lounge. The high ceiling lends the whole space with ample natural light, and the highlight is definitely the panoramic city view as well. There is a dining section once you enter the restaurant, as well as a mezzanine level with ample of tables by the window for the best dining view. [Read more here…]
