New Restaurants
Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashi Keisuke Bettei
Keisuke’s latest concept opened at Tanjong Pagar earlier in March, with long snaking queues again. Their newest restaurant introduces Japanese Hamburg Steak with a free-flow live egg station and salad bar, all from S$18.80 for the Keisuke Prime Beef Hamburg Set and S$20.80 for the Triple Cheese Prime Beef Hamburg Set. Recommending you to go for the cheese-oozing hamburg set, and head there with an empty stomach as some of the rotating items on the salad bar was to-die-for shioks! Don Ho – Social Kitchen & Bar
One of the prettiest restaurant to open this year, Don Ho adds to the exploding dining scene in Keong Siak and has a back-alley entrance to the restaurant – which you may take some time to find if its your first visit here. During the day, Don Ho also open up for the restaurant’s sister poke-bowl concept, Loloku. Be here for a cocktail before your dinner, and indulge in small talks over their small plates. Firebake
If visiting Singapore’s first full-scale woodfire bread oven restaurant doesn’t excite you, how about enjoying a dinner where everything gets prepared from non-processed and sustainable ingredients. The menu here features contemporary dishes cooked with traditional European techniques, which complement and showcase the range of woodfire baked sourdough bread. The restaurant’s centrepiece is a pair of woodfire bread ovens hand-built from 37 tonnes of brick, sand and mortar, in which the bread is baked and selected dishes are slow-cooked. [Read more here…]

House of AnLi Bistro
This new cafe at Tanglin Mall has been getting lots of attention on instagram with its interior decor, and it rightly should since this space is apparently managed by the same owners as the furniture retailer sharing the same space. Although we have to honest that this is perhaps not a place you should expect any above-decent brunch food or service.

Beach Road Kitchen at JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
Recently rebranded, JW Marriott Hotel’s all-day dining concept is not exactly a new restaurant by now. However it would not do Beach Road Kitchen justice if we are to exclude this from our inaugural new restaurant listing. A very beautiful space, complete with a rather wide spread of selections from fresh Seafood options, to daily prime cuts and local delights, and the most addictive chocolate-coated macadamia nuts, this is a buffet line you should visit soon. The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar at COMO Dempsey
We visited Jean Georges’ namesake restaurant in New York City last year (check our recommendations of Michelin-starred restaurants to check out in NYC), and it turned out to be one of our favourite Michelin-starred restaurant which we managed to snag a table at during our stay. You can imagine our excitement when we caught winds of his new casual dining concept right here back home in Singapore few months back, and we have been planning our visit since it officially opened early this month. Birds of A Feather introduces new Brunch menu
If you have yet to visit this relatively new restaurant at Telok Ayer, you should (if not must) plan a visit soon. Sichuan-inspired food, with creative fusion of the oriental spices with international cuisine. With the quiet Telok Ayer stretch during the weekends, Birds of A Feather will be introducing new brunch items during the weekends from early April onwards and you have got to give some of the new items a try, including Bird’s Skillet (think: Spanish omelette with pickled red chilli tomato sauce) and Hong Shao Beef Ragout Orecchiette (think: Sichuan-style braised beef short ribs pasta). Goodwood Park Hotel Annual Durian Fiesta is back!
Durian lovers alert! Goodwood Park Hotel is back with their annual Durian Fiesta from 10th March to 31st July 2017! It has been 34 years since the hotel started this, and we are amazed by how the pastry chefs here continues to curate new items year after year, including the D24 Starry Starry Night Ice Cream Cake and D24 Matcha Cake (pictured below). Not all items are available throughout the fiesta, so make sure you check with the hotel’s pastry shop, The Deli, on your favourites before they are sold!

Kai Garden’s New Executive Chef
Our 2016’s favourite new Chinese restaurant has a change, with Lau Chi Keung, previously of Michelin-starred Crystal Jade Golden Palace, taking over the role of Executive Chef at the restaurant. Fung Chi Keung, whom was the original chef behind Kai Garden, who now carries the mantle of Group Executive Chef and is working on the group’s latest overseas restaurant in Fuzhou city, China. We visited Kai Garden again, and left satisfied as always. We strongly recommend you to head down for its dim sum lunch offerings. [Read more here…]

The Japanese restaurant in Pan Pacific Singapore has recently revamped its weekend brunch menu, which is a Kaiseki-style concept for the set menu where you can customise your own dishes in an okonomi fashion. Canton Paradise opens new outlet at Marina Bay Sands
You will be pleased to know that an affordable dining option has opened at Marina Bay Sands, and Canton Paradise didn’t sting on their offerings here nor increase their pricing despite the (obvious) higher rentals. We went down for a meal here earlier last month, and my oh my, we left feeling all satisfied and us doing little damage to our wallets. [Read more here…]

J65 and its 5 new themed buffets every week!
When the now-defunct Traders Hotel Singapore reopened its doors as Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore, we headed down for a staycation early last year and were all praised about the revamped hotel. J65 was not an exception. The hotel’s all-day dining concept brought what we were familiar with in their sister hotel, Shangri-La’s The Line, here – great spread and quality options! Now J65 introduces 5 weekly themed buffet spreads every week, with Sunday and Monday being International Buffet (think: a mix-and-match of highlights from around the world), Tuesday being Colours of Asia (think: favourites from Malaysia, Indonesia, India and China), going all-Lobster on Wednesday (think: Lobster from all over the world, served fresh or done in inspirations from all over the world), Barbecue on Thursday (think: Korean Bulgogi and BBQ Seafood), and Seafood Mania on Friday and Saturday (think: Crab, Lobster, Prawns, Mussels, and Clams).

Mad About Sucre launches Spring/Summer 17 Menu
One of our favourite patisseries in town Mad About Sucre just launched its latest Spring/Summer 17 menu last month. Other than the impeccable desserts, the passionate team behind this two-years’ old patisserie in Teo Hong Road is equally passionate about their savoury dishes. Expect the likes of Classic lamb chop with Moroccan mint, Fisherman’s Wild Catch and French poultry with Parma ham and Burgundy red wine sauce. Desserts this season include the Viburnum (in frame below), a Pistachio tart with sour cherry mousse; and the Anemone, a light tropical mousse of Hazelnut chantilly and milk chocolate disc. Min Jiang at One North
From 15 March to 14 April 2017, Min Jiang at One-North has launched ‘The Magic of Black Garlic’ menu with six unique dishes exclusive to this outlet. Black garlic boosts much nutritional benefits (antioxidant content being one of its many), and we generally noticed that the black garlic element in the dishes we tried was subtle yet still punchy without coming across as overbearing to the main ingredients of the dishes. Expect dishes such as the Steamed lobster with winter melon and black garlic, Double-boiled black chicken soup with black garlic and dried scallops, Pan-fried scallops with black garlic and Stewed organic green tea noodles with black garlic and minced pork.
