New Restaurants

Lumo
A relatively new cocktail bar and restaurant located at the corner of Carpenter Street and South Bridge Road, Lumo means light in the universal Esperanto language. Expect a Scandinavian inspired space split into the bar and open kitchen dining sections, with a Modern European cuisine where dishes are prepared with a spectrum of traditional and modern techniques. For a start, the bar menu is pretty interesting as it takes inspiration from “Breakfast” in terms of the concoction of the drinks. [Read more here…]

Torasho Ramen & Charcoal Bar
The two months old restaurant in Tanjong Pagar is a modern izakaya restaurant which specialises in charcoal grilled dishes and ramen. The menu is quite extensive and spans across appetisers, ramen and robata (grilled items). For drinks, there is also a good selection of sake, shochu and whisky cocktails. The dishes are less traditional Japanese style, but rather it takes on more Southeast Asian elements to appeal more to the region’s palate. Think Ikura Nachos, Uni Pillow and Truffle Tonkotsu. Started by Germaine and Joy whom had stints previously at Michelin-starred restaurants such as Les Amis and the now-defunct Joël Robuchon Restaurant as pastry chefs, the petite tarts are priced at S$8 each and feature flavours like Strawberry Vanilla Tart, Cognac Caramel Chocolate Tart and Orh Blanc Tart, a hybrid of French Mont Blanc and local orh nee. Buzzing Restaurants

New Chef Menu By New Head Chef Andrea De Paola At Zafferano
Before joining Zafferano, Chef Andrea was the Chef de Cuisine at the One Michelin-starred Braci under the ilLido Group. The new dishes on the menu spans across the ala carte and Chef Menu, where the dishes I had are beautifully presented with some touches of Japanese elements across. Some of the highlights for me are the Spaghetti with razor clams done in two ways, charcoal grilled Mozambique langoustine, Charcoal grilled ‘Sanchoku’ wagyu beef striploin black garlic and the Seabass fillet.
