The Place Another new excited addition to Joo Chiat Road is Wen Kang Ji Wanton Noodle (文康記), a relatively new Wanton Mee stall which gained popularity after it first opened in Golden Mile Food Centre last year. The second outpost is located in a small coffeeshop in Joo Chiat as the crowd’s favourite Da Dong Prawn Noodles, which should further exacerbate the ease of finding a table in this coffeeshop. 

The Food The menu at Joo Chiat is similar to its outlet in Golden Mile Food Centre, where you can choose from Wanton Noodle or Dumpling Noodle. For the Wanton Noodle, it comes in Regular (S$6) or Jumbo (S$8). I went straight for the Jumbo size as I decided to go for the full-blown experience, which comes with bigger portion for the ingredients. 

For one, the portion of the sliced char siew is very generous for my Jumbo order. It is somehow not as fatty as I remember it to be when I first had it, but still decent. I definitely prefer the char siew to be slightly fattier. 

You also get the fat dumplings, steamed wantons, vegetables, and crispy pork lard which I witnessed the staff frying it fresh while I placed my order. The chilli sauce is quite spicy, but it definitely goes well with the springy noodles. 

Rants Seats are quite limited during peak meal hours and be prepared to wait for a table, or you might have to opt for takeaways. 

Will I Return Again? I am excited to head back here for my Wanton Mee craving. I do not have any other close alternatives for Wanton Noodles in Joo Chiat at the moment, so leave me comment if you know of any good ones in this precinct.
