Food Review: Croute | Decent bakery at Valley Point mall [Closed]
The Place By the same folks behind Hummerstons at Robertson Quay, Croute (which means”crust” in French) is an attempt by the owner to venture into the bakery scene as it strives to bring artisan bread to its latest outlet.
Located at Valley Point in River Valley, Croute has a very casual self-service concept where you make your orders directly at the counter.
On closer look, the table actually has a traditional sewing machine foot rest.
The Food Other than bread, there is also the ever-popular all-day breakfast menu such as Eggs Benny ($10) as well as salads. However, I will recommend going for the sandwiches, where you can have a choice of your artisan bread.
The hot Mocha ($5.80) is pretty well done, just right for my liking.
I like the Spanish Pork BBQ ($11) sandwich even though I thought it is slightly overpriced. The bread is soft while the Spanish pork is quite tasty.
The celery soup ($3) I had is a little diluted I thought.
Rants Other than bakery, it might be worthwhile for Croute to offer more dining options to patrons such as pastries or desserts.
Will I return again? I am not a big fan of bread and I do not think I will specially make a trip to Valley Point for Croute. There are many other cafes around in Singapore which offer more food options and serve better coffee.
