Food Review: Arossa Wine & Grill [Closed]

The Place Fusion concept restaurants seem to be in trend these days and it takes more than simply offering a singular cuisine to satisfy the palate of ever demanding customers. Located in Scotts Square, Arossa Wine & Grill specialises in Italian cuisine infused with Japanese elements, with a casual fine dining ambience which made us feel at ease. It occupies a cosy corner spot in Scotts Square, with a few private rooms and a dining view of Scotts Road and Orchard Road.

The Food The menu is largely classic Italian fares, where we noticed that pasta makes up the bulk of the menu. Not to worry, there are other worthy options as well for the non-pasta lovers, such as the Cotoletta Di Tonno 160g (Pan fried blue fin tuna) ($26) and Arrosto Di Agnello 250g (Australian roasted lamb rack) ($34).

We were treated to some warm and freshly baked Walnut bread and Focaccia for a start.

For starters, we had the Fritto Di Calamari ($12) with Spicy Tomato Aioli Sauce.

For mains, we tried the Brassato Di Guane Di Bue 180g ($28) which is essentially Piedmont Style Beef Cheek Braised in Red Wine. This dish was really amazing and got us going for the next bite. The red wine sauce blended perfectly with the tender beef cheek, which was cooked to perfect texture.

The Sea Urchin (uni) pasta ($32) at Arossa is one of the Chef recommendations, which seemed to be a must try for Uni lovers. The Uni taste is infused in the pasta sauce, not to mention the relatively generous slabs of Uni.
IMG_9022For desserts, we had the Tiramisu ($14) with Sweet mascarpone & savoiardi biscuit.

Rants If any, being located at Scotts Square does the restaurant little good. The low traffic flow despite being a new mall seems rather appalling to say the least. What you probably enjoy though, it the relative peace when dining at Arossa.

Will I return again? Good food, no doubt. Just not sure what’s the x-factor that will demand for tRP’s return – a couple of signature dishes that truly stands out might help.
