Food Review: Peach Blossoms At Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay | Contemporary Chinese Cuisine, Beautiful Dining Space

The Place I checked out the revamped Peach Blossoms Chinese restaurant in Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay during my stay at the hotel recently. Beautiful restaurant with modern touches, that was my first impression as compared to my last visit before its renovation. Helmed by Chef Edward Chong, the restaurant spots nice wooden touches in like with the theme of the property, and the best seats are the tables beside the window which boasts a Marina view.

The Food For a start, the Four Combination Platter (S$30/person) sounds too good to pass. This is a combination of Seafood Fritters filled with Lychee & Cheese; Chawanmushi with Australian Scallop, Ikura & Truffle Oil; Sliced Peking Duck & Foie Gras served in Golden Cup; and Puff Pastry filled with Shredded Radish & Shrimp.

Beautiful presentation which is fine-dining standards, and my top pick is definitely the indulgent Sliced Peking Duck.

After the platter, I went for the Discovery Set Menu (S$88 per person/minimum 2 diners) and the first course was the Smoked Honey Glazed Barbecued Pork Belly. This is easily one of my favourite dishes here, where you can expect very tender pork with a good balance of fat and lean meat. The pork skin is glistening and I can really do with more servings.

Next up was the Double-boiled Yunnan Wild Mushrooms with Sea Whelk, Dry Scallop and Kurobuta Ribs. This is a bowl of comforting and delicious soup.

There seem to be touches of Japanese elements in Chef Edward’s dishes, as seen in the Baked Sea Perch with Kyoto Saikyo Miso. The miso sauce here is rich and complements well with the fish.

Next up was the Mapo Beancurd with Prawns and Minced Pork in Spicy Sauce. Not too much of a surprise factor for me on this dish, it is mildly spicy and probably best enjoyed with some rice.

The Braised Inaniwa Noodles with Australian Scallop and Crab Roe served on Chawanmushi is another Japanese-Chinese dish. Lovely noodles here, and there’s nothing not to love about a well-executed Chawanmushi.

For dessert, I had the Chilled Mango Purée served with Coconut Kaffir Lime, followed by Petit Fours.

Rants I visited on a weekday lunch and service can be quite slow. The pacing of the dishes have long intervals, while the staff could be more attentive to the tables as well. My lunch started at 12pm and only ends close to 2:30pm, I can’t imagine how stressful it is to have a business lunch here.

Will I Return Again? Food is generally quite good at Peach Blossoms, though the service pulls down the overall experience for me. I am keen to try the dim sum dishes here regardless, on a day where I have more time to spare.
